A consumer just sent me a link to her ongoing IPL experiences:

Hello Andrea:

I am currently preparing for my first "Pulsed-Light" treatment as opposed to "Laser."

My skin is type 2 - 3 on the "Fitzpatrick Scale." Anglo European reddish skin tone. Currently, manufacturers are claiming good results with this method. One mfg, http://www.palmed.com/laser_medilux.html Palomar, has a unit with twice the power of competitors, while competitors with half the power are showing photos of "male" candidates having 70 - 85% hair removal success rates. This could be short-term as it is not stated.

I am reporting on my results to: http://www.crossdressers-forum.com/ with before and after photos as time permits. The pre-photos are in "blue" and "green" to provide the best view of what we are trying to remove. The info will be at: http://crossdressers-forum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1260 . The photo's have not been posted yet. Tuesday, June 1 at 2:00pm est, is my first appointment. The Doctor knows that I am in the T* family and what I am expecting in the way of results.

The Doctor will be using the Palomar tool - [Lux R's] for the most effective treatment. I have been told it takes up to 30 days for the hair to fall out. We have not decided on a course of action with regards to the next appointment. I have paid for 3 appointments of 45 minutes each for a total neck hair and facial beard hair removal. No, it cannot remove "white hairs" so I will have some electrolysis done in the future perhaps. Not a full-time girl, and at 55 years of age, I am willing to accept some setbacks as I realize that things are still in development.

This science is still in it's infancy as you know. Each individual is different up to a point and so a different strategy may be required. I will be discussing this and other hair growth issues with the doctor on Tuesday June 1.

Hugs
Danielle

Hello Andrea:

I thought that you may like to know that this first treatment was very very effective. It was more than I could have hoped for. Yes, it "stung" like a "bee", but that is because the Doctor told me to get a good start we would use the "Yellow banded hand unit at a level of 5."

This provided great intensity and covered a large area of the face each time I was pulsed. The IPL unit uses the same photo-flash lamp assembly that is used in a laser. Just the laser element has been removed. So what you get is a flash of light as in flash photography against your skin to direct the energy, instead of a small beam of laser light. I posted very specific information on the web site http://www.crossdressers-forum.com . Tomorrow, June 15th, will be 14 days after treatment. I can go as long as 10 hours before any fuzzyness begins to show. Yes, I still must shave but, it is very light, and leaves a very clean surface afterward just using my rechargeable Norelco+ shaver. Very little shadow and easy to cover with Max Factor Pan-stick by using a cosmetic wedge and small amount of the MF-PS with a little red lipstick mixed in to blend with my ruddish brunette skin.

So far, I am super pleased with this concept. The next appointment will be June 29th. I do believe that this method is going to be far more faster than the Cool-Glide Laser. Each has it's place of course. I cannot make any judgements or comparisons having only the one experience. I am very satisfied with my current results!!!! My spouse is planning on doing this in the Fall of this year. Having some unexpected growth due to menopause, she would like to take care of it in the same way. It will take less power for her, and only 1 or 2 treatments with 3 being the most needed.

Since they charge by the square inch, the more power you take at one sitting will reduce the number of visits and the cost to you. It is that simple, but of course there is a limit based on skin type what power level you may be able to be exposed to. True grit girls!

Hugs
Danielle Marie
