From a reader: quote: Hello Andrea, First of all Id like to say your site is the most honest, straightforward and helpful for information on hair removal. Thank you for providing such a website for those of us in need of legitimate and honest answers to our questions. However, after thoroughly reviewing Hairfacts, I have come to a morbid conclusion. It seems that there is no solution for those of us seeking lasting hair removal results other than laser or electrolysis. I am a relatively young male whose has been plagued by excessive body hair. Unfortunately, Ive grown quite self-conscience and frustrated with my appearance due partly to societies developing obsession with smooth hairless skin and partly due to my own insecurities. I have in fact, become obsessed with the removal of my own body hair. It has become quite burdensome. I have even been suckered into scams for topical creams that claim to retard and terminate hair growth (prior to the discovery of Hairfacts). I have used a rotary razor to remove certain areas of hair from my body. This is very painful and ultimately ineffective in my attempt to gain lasting hair retardation effects. This obsession is starting to take a toll on me and I am in desperation for any methods that may help my cause. Anyway, you seem to be the oracle of knowledge on hair removal. Because of this, I would be much obliged if you could perhaps enlighten me on ANY methods of hair removal that may have lasting effects (even in the slightest way) with the exception of Laser and Electrolyis (for a variety of reasons). Is there a way out there that offers any kind of results I am looking for? It seems like there must be some technology that would allow for noticable hair removal results. Im not asking for immediate and permanant (although that would be nice). Im just looking for something with results (even in the slightest). Please consider my enquiries. A few solutions or options to my problems would help me out more than you can imagine. I apologize for the length as Im sure you must get many emails enumerating peoples grievences about body hair (such as mine).
thank you very much

Hi J:
I empathize, and you are not alone in wanting those sorts of results.
You don't say why you have ruled out laser or electrolysis, but those are your best options for the results you seek.
You can retard hair systemically with oral antiandrogens, but the side effects are usually unwanted in males-- far more so than hair issues.
If you have the money, I suggest finding a good pro waxing place and going a few times and seeing what you think of the result. A regular schedule might give you the look and result you want, though it would be ongoing. You would also need to spend a lot of time exfoliating to avoid ingrowns.
I know this isn’t the most promising info, but your options are limited if you have ruled out laser and electro.
