What name and model. We can give you tips what to look for in terms of features. Most important factor will be focal length/working distance and scope arm/boom type for positioning secondary factor is mounting is it a wall mount or floor stand on wheels?

There are two on auction. Both are listed as Weck III Surgical microscopes on heavy tripod stands.

One has dual heads with three locking swivel points; footswitch holder
primary head has 150 mm objective lens; 4.2 to 21 X zoom
secondary head has 250 mm objective lens; 3-15 X zoom
10 X Nikon eyepieces
footswitch controls tilt, focus and zoom; 5.5 foot cable
14 foot power cord with hospital grade plug

The other one has noted that the foot switch doesn't always work, so it's a secondary choice.

clear, wide view 10 x Nikon binocular eyepieces
wired for 100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz
150 mm variable focal length
0.8- 4 x zoom objective
10x eyepieces

These are about 9 hours from me. There is also a table in the auction that I'm interested in. If I can get these for the right price, I'm thinking it'd be worth my time to fly over and then rent a van to bring home. The microscopes are about 200 lbs and the chair is 450 lbs so shipping is not cost effective, lol

Can you give me more of a reason Dimi? My total investment including moving them would be under $500. I can't even get decent loupes for that amount of money.

in a few words, focal length and ergonomics.

Medical Microscopes as used in electrology are relatively custom. The magnification, and the focal length are custom selected for you for the environment you work in.
on the one that lists a focal length, its 150 mm. Which means it has to be REALLY REALLY close to the subject you are working on, 15 cm is approximately equal to about 6 inches. Can tou imaging bending over the table than much to see your subject while you are working?Additionally at several hundred pounds it will be a beheamouth to move around your treatment room to get at the area you are working in

in the majority of cases where I have seen medical microscope used in electrology if has been one of the Zeiss OPMI line of microscopes that the operator has then had specifically set up with the correct eyepieces and lens to give the correct magnification for how YOU WORK with the appropriate focal length.With these auction items you have no idea how its set up or if its applicable to your work or whether you can even get lenses to set it up properly for you.

Additionally what Seana wrote I will point out only that the position of the head of the microscope for electrolysis should be adjusted by hands.On the pictures I see 6 foot pedals for control and using the motors to move the head. This is not convenient and will take a lot of time to adjust it.Also the motors could stop working and need to be fixed.
It has to be considered also:
-coverage of the articulated arm;
-magnification and working distance;
-DOF (Depth Of Field) and FOV (Field Of View);
-Light;
-warranty and service provided;
-price
