I have found this device thats called Epicare. They say it is the same as threading, all reviews I've read so far say it is an excellent buy. Has anyone used this? If so what are the results?

Hi Angelic,

I have one! I saw a reveiw online too for this little at home threading gadget and bought one from www.epicare.co.uk and unbelievably it does exactly what it says!

I always fancied having the real threading done but have never found anywhere that did it.

I was amazed with the results, I`ve tried everything short of going for laser my biggest problem area is down the sides of my cheeks. My face feels really clean and very smooth. I love using bronzers but would end up looking like Coco the clown but even my make up seemed to go on much better.

The only drawback is that you cant do your eyebrows with it though.

I would definitely recommend you give it a try

Hi, I ordered mine a week ago and it hasnt arrived yet. I have contacted Audrey and she replied that i have to wait for another week so that she can make a claim to the Post Office for the lost item. She was very nice and said another one will be sent. How long did it take for yours to arrive?

Hi Angelic,

I ordered one day and got it on the next, I`m in the UK ru?

I was so impressed with it I ordered 2 more for my sister and mum and I told the lady I would be posting them over to Australia and she kindly sent them out herself for me with no extra postage. Terrific service!

Sorry to you have`nt received it just yet, but I`m sure when you do it will be well worth the extra wait! Be sure to let me know what you think

Hi,
I live in UK too. The threader hasn't arrived after 8 days so Audrey has emailed me saying that if it doesn't arrive in another 2 days she will send me another one with recorded delivery. She sent it on Tuesday and it arrived the next day (today). I am very pleased with the product, it is really easy and quick to use.

Just so others can see what you are referring to, here's a the website:

http://www.facialhairthreading.com/

Yes, you can use this on your chin, but it only offers temporary hair removal.

Have you considered electrolysis? That would PERMANENTLY take care of your hair issue.

Hi Bev

Just wondering if you gave the threader a try? I use it under my chin with no problems, it`s really flexible.

There is a main website for it at www.epicare.co.uk it has lots of info available.

It`s been terrific for me like I said and I`ve been using the same one for months now and it still removes all the hair on my face with no after effects like rashes or spots. When I used other methods my face was always in a mess for days afterwards I understand what Dee is saying but when you have a very limited budget this little gadget for £10 is a blessing!

It seems like you guys only have positive things to say about the epicare and I am thinking about getting one...but I am wondering if this makes your hair come back darker and more coarse. The majority of the hairs on my lip and chin are fine, and I don't want to make them worse by getting rid of the other ones. I am also wondering if there is ever a chance of there being a dark shadow while the hairs grow back.

you need electrolysis for those hairs. there is a good chance they will get thicker and darker if you start removing them with the root. you're better off bleaching if you don't want to permanently remove them.

I've used my epicare for a long time now and I'm really happy with it. it has not made my hair come back darker and thicker. And i do not have the dark shadow which i hear a lot of people say they get when they use a depilatory or bleach. i think with the bleach, your hair becomes "multi-colored", meaning your hair grows out so you can see the difference in color closer to the root. however, i've always had 3 whiskers on my chin (anybody has that?) even before i used epicare. well...epicare removes the 3 whiskers easily as well as the other fine hair that i have on my chin and upper lip. i've checked out electrolysis and laser. was told that electrolysis stings like a bee. Ouch! and laser works only on dark hair; and even then is not a permanent removal. I went to the FDA website and read that laser was only permanent reduction. so i'll continue to use my epicare. it is a very inexpensive solution. the customer service at http://www.facialhairthreading.com is wonderful at answering any questions you may have. i bombarded them with questions for so many days before i purchased the epicare. and they have a great video that you can watch to see how epicare is used. they are located in the u.s. and i believe also the least expensive of all the sites that sell the same product.

stylegal, a good electrologist can remove those few hairs on your lip permanently without much pain at all and at a small cost. I had my upper lip done with great permanent results. Laser is permanent, but it doesn't work well on fine hair (and it only works on dark hair, you're right), but it's not a good solution for fine hairs on your face. Electrolysis is the best for that and permanent.

lagirl - Hi! How many sessions of electrolysis would I need for my upper lip? At each session, how much of an area can they cover? (=how many hairs). Also, how much would it cost in US$? And during the session, when the hair is zapped, does it mean that it will never come back again six months or 1 year later? I'm curious and also, I think I have a very low pain tolerance for anything electrical.

Megan, When I was in my early 20's I began to have one or two hairs on my chin that needed attention. I'm no 41 and each year my hairs get more coarse and multiply. I have tried many different methods (depilatory, bleach, electrolysis, shaving, waxing, and tweezing).

In the beginning, I, too, was worried about the hairs getting coarse. Now, I have learned that they will do what they will do regardless of what you do because it has to do with hormones.

Yours may not get coarse. It depends on you hormones.

However, the method you choose for removing them can off-set the texture.

I have found tweezing causes the hairs to grow back coarse.

Waxing and electrolysis will reduce their texture.

I think that the bleaching and depilatory are bad for the skin (harsh).

I don't know about Threading - I'm reading about it myself.

Hope this info helps.

stylegal, I had my upper lip done. you can read my story at the links below. I had a bunch of areas done with both laser and electrolysis actually.

Upper lip will probably cost under $500 total over the course of a year or so, most likely less if you find someone good and stick to treatment schedule. Mine was probably under $300 total. The fastest electrolysis method zaps at least 5-6 hairs per minute, depending on the skill of the eletrologist it can be even 10 etc. You won't need treatments longer than 30 mins in the beginning, and then only 5-15 mins after that. So it doesn't take that long and it's not expensive and you will be done forever. Electrolysis costs around $60/hr on average. You can read the electrolysis section of this forum and http://www.electrology.com to learn more about it. Personally, for this area, I don't think it makes sense to use all these temporary methods when it's this relatively cheap to get rid of it permanently.

p.s. don't be so trusting of "reviews" for these types of products. they're usually not actually written by any real consumers.

lagirl - hi! it's been a while since I've been back. kids at school & all kinds of activities prevent me from going online as often as I'd like. anyway, $500 seems quite a bit to pay for hair removal for a small area. i've read in other forums that even with electrolysis, hair can still grow back, and with a vengeance. so, i'm quite hesitant abt trying it. plus my pain threshold is very low. what about those home electrolysis kits? do you think those actually work? so far, i am very happy with my epicare. however, time for me to replace it and get a new one soon.

hair doesn't grow back after proper electrolysis. I had my upper lip treated for under $300 total over a year ago and it's absolutely permanent. if any hair grows in in a few years, it will be NEW hair that would have grown in regardless because your body developed it with age. $500 is an estimate on the higher end of things. I don't know how much hair you have. personally, I don't think $300 is a lot of money to pay for never having any hair there and dealing with it ever again. Just add up $10-20 waxing treatments over the coarse of two years.

no, home electrolysis kits don't work. only professional electrolysis machines.

I still haven't gotten the Epicare yet, but am thinking about it quite a bit. For those who have used it, have you had good results? How often do you have to use it, and does the hair become more coarse or anything? Please let me know. Thanks!

I have bought a hair removal tool from Epicare http://www.thinkbeauty.co.uk/epicare.html and it works fantastic. The service was great and communication is excellent. They even offer a 7 day money back guarantee if you are not 100% satisfied.

Please ignore Janie, this is most likely a poor attempt at promoting a product.

I will give Janie01 this much. At least this product is in fact a plucking type device and is not claiming to be permanent, so I think I will allow this one to slip through. It is at least on topic.

Using any product like this that pulls out facial hair, is the same as waxing, tweezing, sugaring and threading. It is NOT recommended for temporary removal of facial hair. The face is a hormonally controlled area and the hair is most likely to become stronger and thicker after repeated treatments over a period of time. Bad idea.
