Hi...First of all I have to say thank you so very much for sharing your seemingly inexhaustable amount of knowledge on LHR and hair removal in general. That being said, what have you heard, if anything, about the Sciton Pulse Dual Nd Yag?
Thanks...

Lagirl, are there any low end models of IPL's that run for less than 5K? I'd like to find a used IPL, not for permanent removal, but for temporarily "IPL epilation" to use in my home for my chest and stomach. I've read of Phillips I believe coming out with a system in home use calling it "laser epilation" i believe, which is pretty much what I would like to accomplish.

I saw some machines from this site and would like to know if these will work. Seems like some of the lower end models (LD2k, LD20K) are quite affordable compared to going to a professional laser treatment center if you're treating extensive areas. They seem to be pretty confident in their products with that 100% satisfaction guarantee also. Thoughts? http://www.centre-biotechnique-avance.com/11.05.02/Packages.htm

Thank you so much, Lagirl, for sharing the information. that's the most useful "hair-removal" forume I've ever read. I have a question to the list of lasers you posted. In my region the choise of Candela lasers is not that wide, I've found only 1 GentleLase so far. (don't know if it's alexandrite or not, I've made an inquiry with them) Or, are all gentlelase are alexandrite? And I found another laser used by one doctore, named GentleYAG. I've never heard anything about this one. Does anybody has any experiance with it? Julia

I met with someone that is highly skilled and very confident! She uses the Scition Yag and IPL. SHe says IPL is great to great a deeper wavelenght and finer hairs. She says it is all in the skills of the person, not just the machine. Anyone had luck with this machine? Everyone is so Gentelase and I met a women too who says she has great luck with it, but on brazilian woulnd't go with higher joules and if the hair is in anagen, you can kill a hair at 10 or 12 joules. HElp!

What about aculite? http://www.aculight.co.uk/Does that use one of the listed machines (IPL), or is it a system in it's own right, as the website seems to imply?

This has nothing to do with the topic of this thread. These spammers are like the those annoying solicitation calls we get all day long. Bang! Bang!

Has anyone had any experience with a CYNOSURE Apogee 20 TKS Laser (Alexandrite)? How does this machine compare with other Alexandrite Lasers? For that matter, is there much of a difference from one Alexandrite laser to another?
Thanks, Shaggy 'n SF

I'm not sure if this was posted here in the past, but this is a pdf document that shows all the lasers out there, company, wavelength, joules, pulse length, price, scan area, etc... It has some great info! http://www.miinews.com/pdf/0205_hair.pdf

The CYNOSURE Apogee 20 TKS Laser has a 12.5mm spot size, so is certainly on the smaller end of the spot size spectrum.

The spot size on the machine is 15mm and the pulse can also go down to 5ms.

See a Video of the NEW Light-based device, SILK’N. Under Physician direction patients will purchase the device from a doctors office and use it in the privacy of their own home. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=verE3EcQMIY

Hi, Does anyone know anything about a "laser" called Syneron Laser? It says it is a combination of laser and IPL, but I haven't heard anything about it, ever. Apparently it has also been used to get rid of cellulites, but I am of course more interested in its ability to remove hair.

I think you better look onward, hannahanna. This light-based system (Aurora) was developed in Israel around the early 2000's and they claimed it would affect light hairs. There are testimonials here about it not being very effective on light hairs. No laser can "see" light colored hairs.
Can you describe your situation? Location of the hair, color of hair, color of skin? Is the hair thick or thin?

I know there is different lasers recommended based on skin types. I'm probably skin type IV (asian indian). There is one doctor who uses Gentlase (alexandrite laser). He recommends me to use Obagi system (skin lightener plus retin-a) and then do laser reduction. Another doctor has Gemini (Nd:Yag) laser. Based on my skin type, I would assume Nd:Yag is safer? However in the internet, I've seen conflicting reviews on which laser is more effective in hair reduction? Does anyone have a good article on efficacy between the 2 lasers? Thank you.
