Do any of you know of reliable electrologists in South Miami? I had a horrible experience with laser a few years ago, and would love to have an electrologist recommendation from these forums.

Many thanks.

There is a highly skilled and knowledgable electrologist who also administers laser. She works at the Aesthetic Science Institute in Boca Raton. That isn't too far, right?
Ask for Marion Ellner
Phone: 561 367 9101

Say hi for me.

Good Luck.

Boca is about an hour away. I'd prefer someone more local, so I can make sure there is nothing to keep me from my appointments. I will, however, add Marion Ellner to my list. Thank you!

There are quite a few electrologists much closer, and I'm hoping to have some consultations over the phone and have one chosen by the end of this coming week, even if I can't find a recommendation of someone local.

Because of my experience in the past, I do have a bit of an aversion to electrologists who also administer laser. Is this entirely silly?

try using the search feature here and run it for "miami". otherwise, really the best way is to call around as you're planning to do and go meet with them in person and have sample 15min treatments.

I would disagree. Laser and electrolysis are complementary in good hands. If someone does both and has a good laser machine (not IPL), I would trust that they know their hair removal stuff and will provide the best treatments with both.

Laser folks often promise more than they can deliver which is very upsetting. Electrologists usually set you straight right away, "It's slow, it'll take about a year or more, you will not get immediate gratification, you need to be patient as you will gradually see less and hair growth in the treated areas"

People expect a lot from laser.

I respect Marion a lot and would travel far to see someone like her. Just tell her your story and let her know that you don't want any more hair removal dissapointments.

Keep us posted!

Thank you both!

Are 15 minute sample treatments common practice? That would be excellent. I was guessing it would be more trial-and-error if my first session with one electrologist didn't go well.

Arlene: Exactly. The people who did my laser filled me with many false hopes and I just gave up for years afterward. So as a result, I'm a bit wary of all hair removal specialists, even though I've done a LOT of research on electrolysis and have faith in the practice itself. Thank you for the help!

those laser people like you experienced (probably also with a bad laser and no real knowledge on how to get customers results) are who give laser a bad name. I've personally had both laser and electrolysis on many areas and am very happy with both.

some will do sample 15 min treatments for free, with some you'll have to pay, but 15 mins is not expensive.

p.s. another good idea would be to call Judy Adams in St Augustine. She might have some good recommendations. she also does both.
