I just got a one touch deluxe unit and I can't get it to work. I get the needle in the follicle and hold it for 15 seconds (and yes it is turned on and beeping) but nothing, then 15 more... nothing, 15 more ...same. I try this up to 5 times and have upped the nob to the fifth setting and it just won't loosen my hairs. Any tips?

Do you feel any sensation at all while the probe is in the follicle? Does any "DC froth" come out of the follicle (white froth-ish sticky stuff that sticks to the needle?)

I don't know the settings on the One Touch myself but it will take about 45sec to 1 min at least. You may feel almost nothing at first and then a gradual stinging sensation build up (and possibly some froth coming out.)

Try replacing the battery just in case. Also make sure your fingers are wet (try salt water) and in contact with the little plate on the side.

I got some of the hairs to come out easily but for others no such luck. Some of the hairs that it won't work on are very painful and some I can even see some froth come out of the follicle. The level I need to use seems very inconsistent. Sometimes it only takes level 1 and other times it I can go to 5 for a minute without the hair coming out. It seems to work better when I just start using it so I think I will try again tonight with a new battery.

I noticed the same thing, but the difference is probably not as dramatic. I noticed using galvanic or blend, doesn't seem to matter, some hairs are really persistent and take twice the treatment time compared to others. I assume it is normal, though I wonder if it is my lack of skill sometimes crazy You could try the same, leaving the setting on 1 or 2, and doubling or tripling the treatment time for the stubborn ones. I suspect the lack of consistent output causes some of the pain when galvanic is used? confused

The hairs in full anagen stage seem to come out the easiest (thick hair, thick root sheath and nice big bulb.) The catagen (club hairs) seem to be the worst and take the most treatment to come out. Telogens seem to be somewhere in the middle.

I have also been having trouble getting the needle all the way into the follicle. I get it about 1/3 to 1/2 the way into the follicle and then it almost always gets stuck. sometimes I can turn it on when it's half way in the follicle and it will sort of "melt" its way down to the bottom, but this only works about 5% of the time, and even then the hair needs a slight tug after treating for like one to two minutes (depending on my patience). At this point I'm mainly hoping that the spots I've treated so far will heal without scarring too terribly bad.

I would guess offhand the probe may be getting dull (or they come dull compared to a pro needle?) I found my pro needles get dull after 2-3 hours of use and get somewhat "eaten" by the lye and have to be replaced.

I'd tweeze a few anagen hairs out in the area you are working on. line it up to the probe and check your depth just to make sure you are not over inserting.

You make a good point about the probes being "eaten" up by useage. While probes designed to be reused and re-sterilized are stronger, and don't have this problem, single use probes are not designed to last, and I have actually had one where the tip blew off with one insertion! I just had to take it out and reload.

The one touch was designed with limiting law suits in mind, not what would make for good treatments.
