How long are your treatments? Can you increase the number of treatments and the length of treatments to get to your clearance faster?

You should ask them what they use to be sure. It's hard for us to get over the phone. Ask for the name of the machine they use too.

My treatments are 30 minutes...I paid for an 8-time package of 30 minute treatments, so maybe once that is over I can increase it to 45 minutes. Unfortunately I probably can't go more than once a week though.
I will see if I can ask next time what type of electrolysis and the machine they use too. Thanks, lagirl smile

30 mins is not a long time. Why not do hour-long treatments?

I've thought of this, but thought my skin might get too irritated afterwards...the redness usually doesn't last that long for me, but it feels slightly swollen usually for 2 days afterwards after the 30 minute sessions. I thought 45 minutes might be a good in-between time---but if you think 1 hour would really make a difference, I can reconsider that too.

It's hard to advise you about longer sessions because we can't see your problem. All I can say is, I have personally done hour sessions on upper lip hair of transgender clients and full clearance was recieved and healing was very, very good, but I don't advise this for everybody. It should be done with great skill, care, close observation (surgical loupes) and with the better computerized epilators of today using Microflash or PicoFlash thermolysis. Probe size and selection is very important.

If a full hour is done, you should definitely expect swelling, but you should have no scabs or white fluid leaking from the skin. The swelling subsides with 1-3 days and all looks well. Sometimes the swelling subsides sooner???

If your electrologist advises against longer sessions (for your upper lip only), then you must go with her lead. She knows what she can do with her equipment and she knows what is out of her comfort zone.

Thanks so much Dfahey. I will be sure to ask her what she thinks.
