I'm a 20 year old girl who is 50% italian and I'm pretty sure this is where my hairyness comes from. I have dark but fine hairs all over my body, but the places it bothers me most are my lower back, the back of my neck, and especially my chest/stomach area. My doctor told me that I don't have any medical condition linked to this but I just don't know. I used to wax my stomach but after being told about the possibility of induced growth I stopped immediatedly. Will sugaring do the same thing, even though it doesn't adhere to the skin? I'm so frustrated by this and I feel wicked gross....

Waxing doesn't necessarily create induced growth. You should be able to tell if it does for you on this area if you've been doing it for a while. This is usually a problem on the face. I waxed bikini and underarms for years before I got laser and electrolysis, and it didn't increase the growth. So it varies.

Have you tried bleaching? This is what I used to do on the stomach before I got electrolysis. Having a tan there helps even more.

Have you considered electrolysis? You can start saving money for it. I got my stomach done over the course of 1.5 years and it was one of the best things I've done besides bikini and underarm treatments with laser (coarse hair on these areas).

The back of neck and lower back should be easily treated. They're not huge areas.

Yeah, it's just tough because I'm struggling between college and what not. I'm going to get certified as a body sugarer, I just don't want my stomach hair to turn coarse. But I plan on saving up for it fairly soon.

I am currently suffering a major panic attack right now. I feel so inhuman compared to other girls. I have been comparing myself to them and I cannot control it. I am really upset and I am so scared that there is a hormonal problem with me...the doctors ignore my concerns and I am at a breaking point. I just want to cry right now. I feel so weak and stupid...

Can you afford to do something about your hair problem that is permanent? If not, have you tried bleaching or shaving to until you get to the point where you can see a professional electrologist or laserologist?

Yes, but all I end up doing is getting bumps and nicks...bleaching barely lasts for me either...sometimes it's just too much =\

I can't go back and read all 31 posts that you have made, but have you explored laser or electrolysis and are you in a financial position to pay for either of these modalities? Massachusetts is a licensed state that has many wonderful electrologists, I'm sure, so in this respect you are very lucky. I guess the laser hair reduction industry is good there as well?

Part of getting back to feeling strong has to do with making a plan and sticking to that plan. Do you have a close friend or relative to talk this through. Try to connect with someone and make a plan that works for you so you can feel hopeful that this will resolve..

I bleached for years while I was in school and couldn't afford laser or electrolysis. You're not alone. We all went through this. Bleaching should last a good 1-2 weeks. I always felt I needed to leave it on longer than the instructions said for it to be really effective. For fine hair, it's a really great interim solution.

Don't get discouraged. Once you have income coming in and you're doing something about the issue, you'll already feel better.

I also waxed areas like bikini and underarms for years. I wouldn't hesitate doing that if I were you, meanwhile. Just don't do it on the face.

roma18, I advise to go with electrolysis for any area that has fine hair. It doesn't depend on the area. It depends on the type of hair you have on that area. Laser only works on areas with dense coarse growth.
