When you add up the amount of people that have been burned, to any extent, the people that have had no results, and the people that have had an increase in hair due to laser, -in the short time laser has been attempted, it’s pretty significant that somethings wrong with that whole field of practice.
On the otherhand, look at how long electrolysis has been around, and look at how many people are happy. There’s really no comparison.
and how exactly would you get these numbers to “add them up”? from forums? i thought you had a scientific background. that’s not exactly random sampling.
you’re also obviously not reading the electrolysis forum carefully. are you skipping over all the posts complaining of lack of results, pigmentation, scarring, and treatments lasting 7+ years?
No question that they are severe. And no question that they should never have occurred. That level of burn is something that just shouldn’t happen if proper protocols are being followed. Not so much any individual footprint but the totality of all of those footprints. (footprints are the term for an IPL burn, which is what those were).
But it is also important to understand, not to excuse it, but to put it in perspective that those burns if properly treated will heal completely. Again, I am not suggesting that those were a good thing. But the net effect will be complete healing. And what they (the media) never show is what they look like after they heal. Because there is nothing really to see.
I have been trying to ignore you, but you keep on making blanket statements that are just not true. Please stop it so that I can go back to ignoring you.
But in the meantime, let’s put things in perspective. I think electrolysis is a good modality and I think it provides a tremendous benefit, but don’t think for a moment that everyone who does electrolysis happy. I have met many many people who have had electrolysis and are not satisfied. Is it because it was done poorly? Probably. But finding a good electrologists is just as hard as finding a good laser hair removal center.
Also, when I have some time, I will find and post a photo I have of someone scarred by electrolysis far worse than anything I’ve ever seen by a laser. This is not to say that laser is safer or better but to make the point that they both have issues. Your continued drumbeat of “laser bad, electrolysis good” is getting old.
Finally, it is necessary to understand that with the dynamics of laser versus the dynamics of electrolysis that there are far more people treated and far more skin surface area treated by laser than by electrolysis. Therefore the odds of having more reactions (all things being equal) with lasers is much higher.
