Bringing up overlapping

lagirl, I made no comment of the the pulse width or spot size
on the GentleLase, and 18 spot is NOT the only size Candela uses.

Choice. FYI I became an electrologist BEFORE I went and received by BS in Biology, then Medical School, did an internship as required, residency in Dermatology.
For reasons pertaining to medical licensing, and compliance, I initially chose not to disclose my profession. I cannot diagnosis on line or treat on-line or give any recommendations to others sight unseen. Common sense should prevent you from doing the same.

You "girl’s’seem to invest a lot of time on these threads. I am on a sabbatical writing papers when I happened upon this site.
I see you have been contributors for quite some time. You could have gone to med school yourself. How is it that you have all this free time? In order to be innovative one has to keep an open
mind. You seem to believe that anything different from your understanding is wrong. Real growth is stepping outside of your comfort zone. If I have three faces, rest assured that they are hair-free. I go back to seeing patients and treating real peop;e tomorrow. So at ease soldiers. Attack someone else.

Why you felt slighted I do not know. I try to respond clearly so that everyone can understand. It is difficult to have a discussion when those involved lack a clear understanding of English grammar.

Sorry if I overreacted, but you just interfered and your argument does not add up to discussion. It is nothing more than a template. I was trying to open a discussion for all of us to improve our understanding of hair dynamics, however this is what happens. Someone intervenes, utters something as an absolute fact as s/he put the rules of nature. I know, you are trying to be as clear as you can be for anyone here and be helpful, but you are overlooking the fact that what you wrote has been stated so many times in this forum, and I am already aware of this info when I ask my questions. By the way, English is not primary language, but it does not diminish my understanding of English Grammar. Apart from that what does interchangeable words or phrases have to with English Grammar?

Finally, I am disturbed about posts (including mine) everyone posted to argue each other. This thread has gotten out of track.

I answered a question you posted. How that is out of context of the conversation, I do not understand.

If you are so aware of the answer, why ask pose the question?

If you could just defend your “facts” with some actual science I am sure we would all love to hear it. Instead we ask questions and you either dont answer, or respond defensively.

Your not diagnosing anyone on this forum, and I find it hard to believe that you could face some liability under a pseudonym on an online hair removal forum. It is clear in all of your posts you fail to articulately defend your stance, but instead choose to pull rank on us by stating your a dermatologist. Sorry, but that just is not going to fly. We thirst for knowledge and you left our mouths dry.

I answered a question you posted. How that is out of context of the conversation, I do not understand.

What you said in your first post in this thread is not the answer to my question. On top of that, it is irrelevant to my discussion.

I said, I am aware of the information you gave.

It is funny that you with selecting of your words above, you not only try to justify yourself as you correctly answered my question, and also make it seem like I accept that and therefore I am just playing a game pretending not knowing the answer to my question. Very talented of you, you just do it with just one sentence.

Zsazsa, if you bothered to actually read the forum before you started posting irrelevant posts in variout threads, you would have seen that all of us spend time on this forum helping people get actual results. And you know what? It’s been working out very well for years. And unlike apparently all of your clients, consumers on this forum actually get a great PERMANENT reduction from laser treatments.

You arrived on this forum and now continuously state various misinformation all over without addressing any of the questions at hand and without any logical or statistical proof. I’m sorry, but we have no actual proof that you’re either an electrologist, a dermatologist, or a laser removal technician, and it’s especially unclear when you state lines like that pasted by Choice, i.e. that you’re NOT a physician, but an electrologist.

To address your point above, I clearly stated that my settings on the GentleLASE were 16J at 18mm. And in turn, you asked me if 18mm was the pulse used. This clearly shows that you have no understanding of the various settings on the GentleLASE.

We’ve all worked very hard here for the past several years to clear up all the misinformation that is floating out there, promoted by clinics and laser manufacturers looking to make money of off unsuspecting consumers. And consumers who come here and learn to sift through the marketing BS end up getting great results.

Once again, I would advise you to read the FAQs and through the posts on this forum FIRST before posting. You may find that you’ll learn something, especially how to provide your patients with permanent results, which you apparently don’t believe exist.

I’ve read that penetration of laser beam becomes to be ineffective as the spot size decreases under a diameter of 15mm. Therefore under 15mm, more overlapping should be used to compensate.

Patterns: ImageShack - Best place for all of your image hosting and image sharing needs

If pattern #2 is given credit as the with %10 overlapping, then we should use more overlapping than %10 in any spot size, because as the beam penetrates through the skin, spot size shrinks. So, at #2 we have areas not receiving enough laser power to destroy follicles.

It is said that at 15mm, an overlapping of ~%20 should be used. And as we go for spot sizes 12mm - 8mm, %30 - %50 is required. I think that’s why they recommend pattern #7 for TRIA.
