Soprano Laser

can you find out specific settings they’re using? joules, spot size, pulse?

Hi there
i have been looking around at laser hair removal for a while now and finally got some test patches done
One of which was with the saprano xl laser, To be honest it realy hurt like you have no idea to the point that i bled a bit after my treatment though this could have been from a bad shave job from the service provider and she did go over the same small area about 15 times and then turned down the machine from 10 to 5 to do another 5 rounds, she also used a gel to make the laser slide a bit.
I was told i would only have to go in once a week for 5 weeks and have a treatment done then 6 weeks after go back for one more treatment and not have to go back for 6 months.
I dont know if this is for real as other places with ipl alma (not sure which kind) have said i have to come back for a treatment once every 6 weeks.
The test patch i had done with one ipl laser shed after 2 days the saprano has yet to do any thing though after 5 hrs there was no pain.
Does any one know if this is the correct technique or should i worry and go to the other ipl!
Actually has any one actually had good results?

oh by the way its my chest and stomache im getting done , and i have moderate hair of a darkish nature.

I asked them about the spot size, joules etc… they said they can’t give me that information.

To which I would reply, “I’m sorry, I can’t give you my money then.”

Nashaliano,
I use the SopranoXL. You need to do an average of 6 to 10 passes per area. When the area feels warm, you do two additional passes then stop. You treat at a fluence of 7 - 10. 9-10 is average for skin types I-III. I can’t understand why it would be dropped to 5. The system is virtually pain free. For a test patch, you do 6 passes at a fluence of 9-10. You would need a treatment once every 4-6 weeks for the upper body, possibly at up to 3 month intervals for the lower body. New hair growth will not occur until at least 3 weeks after treatment.
I hope that helps.

4-6 weeks is too early to treat unless you’re not getting any results. considering “painless” treatments, i would assume your clients are not really getting results and are not realizing it soon enough since they’re coming in so often (i.e. not letting the hair fully grow in to see the lack of reduction). after 3 weeks, you should be hairless as that’s when treated hair should have fallen out. hair doesn’t generate and start grows all the way out of the skin in such a short time if you supposedly killed it just 3 weeks before. the only explanation for this is that the hair wasn’t affected and is growing as usual.

You’ve been quite rude in response to the only 2 posts I have made here. Your ‘assumptions’ are truly offensive and show your ignorance. Your explanation of hair growth cycles makes no sense. If it’s been killed off, why would it grow again? And hair in different growth stages can become visible within 4-6 weeks. And the SopranoXL IS painless. It’s supposed to be painless. Clearly Alma lasers has written the operator manual and protocols completely wrong. I’ve read your other responses to people’s post. You come across as arrogant and dismissive. I won’t be posting again.

Dearest Poppy39:

I would hope that you would not allow your experience with one poster to deter you from sharing in the overall positive experience that is our little family here.

I hope that you do reconsider, but if not, may peace go with you.

Hi there
Just an update on my laser
I went in and had a full treatment with the soprano xl
and it has gone quite well… The test patch however has not grown back, the full treatment area has.
I used a numming cream which helped a bit, however there was still some discomfort. I have asked my service provider to treat me in almost the same way as the ipl treatments and this appears to be working.
I had 10 rounds at 8 though i wanted 10 at 10 and 5 at 5 which worked before.
Than you for your help and i will keep you updated

Poppy, my post wasn’t meant to be rude. It’s straightforward, but I don’t see how it’s rude. I post quite a bit here as you can tell, so I don’t really have time to write out full greetings in each post. However, my points were valid. Just because a manufacturer claims that something is painless doesn’t mean that it will actually kill hair when used at such settings that it’s painless. As you can see in the posts by consumers even in this thread alone, who are using this machine, everyone who is getting results says the treatments hurt. And what I meant is that it doesn’t sound like you are killing the hair the way you’re treating currently.

There is a lot of helpful information on the subject on this forum from professionals who’ve been in the industry for a long time that you may find helpful in order to provide the best results for your clients.
