A tech question from rainy Belgium.

Hi everybody,
A tech question from rainy Belgium. A new skin clinic has just opened next to my office offering IPL epilation at very competitive prices. They use a machine called “2b bright light”, locally manufactured. No real concerns about safety as EU norms are very tight but specifications (see below) seem rather different from what I read in other threads. What is your opinion? Thanks a lot. Cat

It is not a L.A.S.E.R. because energy is delivered in the form of a non-cohesive polychromatic light. And yet, the pulsated light will be surely in the years to come a sure and recognized value. From only one machine, it is possible to use it in indications as various as the pigmentary one, the depilatory, replanning and the vascular one.
Specification
• Source : pulsed light
• Wavelength : 515 - 980 nm
• Transmitted Power : 25 – 85 J by Flash
• Pulse Time : adjustable 20 – 25 – 30 – 35 – 40 ms
• Recharging Time : from 0.5 secs to 1.5 secs
• Transmission : manual mode or automatic mode (repetitive)

Use epilation :
Power : 5 - 7 J/cm²
Pulse : 25 - 35 ms
Mode : Single or Repetition
Use blotches and skin renewal :
Power : 4 - 5 J/cm²
Pulse : 30 ms
Mode : Burst

Are you sure the hair removal use is with nly 5-7 joules? that seems very low. Otherwise, the specs seem similar to most IPLs on the market (and IPLs are not great for hair removal purposes).

Thanks, I will try to get some more info and have a look also at laser treatments though over here they seem to be X4 more expensive.

They may be more expensive, but it’ll save you a good chunk of money just going straight for the Laser most applicable for you skin type.

Regards,
Benji
