It is highly feasible to have the entire area cleared. Your electrologist just has to roll up her sleeves and get going and you have to show up. I work on body areas for as long as the client will allow. I am talking hours here, not minutes. This is really about what the client wants and then developing a strategy to get her or him there. If an electrologist cannot work more than an hour, then you will have to be grateful for that hour she can give you.
Thanks Dee! Is it okay to undertake an hours worth of work on the chest? I’m just worried that an hours worth of work may be too much for the area. Any input would be great.
Of course it is okay! The question is, is your electrologist willing to do more than an hour? Are you concerned about over treatment? If you are, that would not be a problem. Post skin reaction will be redness/ pinkness, swelling and most likely, small scabs. All normal and acceptable.

Just a quick update on how I’m doing!
I had a 15 minute session 2 weeks ago which went as planned, got rid of the few stray hairs on temples and cheek area etc with minimal redness and bumps all of which went away within 24-36 hours!
Sharon was then off for a week taking a well deserved break! So my next appointment was yesterday for 45 minutes! This gave me a 2 week period to get regrowth from the laser that I’ve been having for so many years! In this time I got a fair bit of regrowth on the temples up to the hairline on both sides, regrowth above the eyebrows on both sides, around the eye area next to the sideburns and a few on the top of the cheeks!
We managed to clear all of the hair in those areas in the 45 minutes, I never thought we wouldn’t be able to but was pleasantly surprised!! Yes it was painful, especially above the eyebrow, temple and forehead but it will be worth it in the end!
Our plan is to keep treating the hairs as they come through after the last laser treatment which was roughly 10 weeks ago. The hair has definately started comming through, which Is what was treated yesterday, so hope to keep on top of it, keep it clear and catch it in the right phase to kill it!!
20 hours post treatment - most of the redness is now gone, I still have some swelling specifically above the eyebrows, eg they still look like bites etc. My only small concern is that this morning I woke up and had about 10 whiteheads in the areas treated. Never had these before in my past 2 treatments but they were only 10 and 15 minutes so not much tissue damage was caused. I’m assuming this is normal and will pass over the next day or 2??
For info, when I would have laser in these areas i would regulary get similar little whiteheads in the exact same areas so I’m thinking it my just be how I react to these types of treatment. Never caused me a massive problem and they always clear up with no marks etc.
Aftercare last night was thayers witch hazel with tea tree dabbed on the areas treated.
This morning I washed my face with Luke warm water (don’t use hot water until at least a day after treatment!) and a gentle cleanser, repeated the witch hazel and tea tree.
Overall I’m really happy, Sharon is brilliant, helpful and really seems to care and be interested. I can’t reccomend her enough. I feel pretty positive right now, I know there will be down days where lots of growth comes through, or I may have a worse reaction for whatever reason etc but it feels good to know that the hairs being treated are being killed and I’m finally hopefully getting somewhere!!!
Hey Mark, really happy to hear you are making progress.
Tea tree oil usually keeps the whiteheads at bay, so there is not much else you can be doing.
Just keep the area clean and keep applying witch hazel and I’m sure they won’t last too long. You’ve rightly noted that they are due to the increased treatment you received.

Update… Having a bit of a down time I’m afraid!!! Nothing to do with Sharon, she’s great!! I got my dates wrong with my last laser treatment, it was 9 weeks tomorrow (Monday) so the regrowth has started and boy has it started!!!
In fairness I think I was fooling myself with the shortish treatments I’ve been having and thinking that was it when I’ve been having laser for over 12 years plus!!
So I had an hour of blend on the forehead area and temples… Ouch!! Very tired after that, but got rid if all the thicker hairs and really tidied up the hairline. The area is still covered in thin hairs, light-ish in colour. Fortunately at this time I can get away without trimming them and they are only noticeable from very close up.
Bit disappointing that we did an hour on Friday and I still have loads and loads of hair there! But I think it’s more about having a realistic expectations now the growth is properly coming through! I’m new to this, only had 2 hours 15 mIns total treatment so far which in the grand scheme is nothing so the plan is to keep going weekly now for 45 mins to an hour and try and get clear ASAP!
The treatment went well on Friday treated an area around the hairline/temple where there were thick hairs, left me quite red and sore but now have some pin prick scabbing but healing very nicely. All other areas treated haves healed perfectly with the odd tiny scab here and there.
Just got to keep going… This is the hard part I guess!! I’m hoping 6 weeks/6 hours from now I’ll start seeing a bit of difference! That’s if more and more growth doesn’t come through!!!

Nice to read your update. As you are already aware, just be prepared, the hair is starting to come through now but may continue for many more weeks - it will be an ongoing battle. Not to mention that some people experience hair coming through much later as well. It may be difficult to determine what is electrolysis regrowth and what is laser regrowth (I’m taking about 6 months? 1 year? 1.5 years? later).
The more work you do, the more swelling you will experience and it may last a bit longer. But this is normal.
Just keep persevering and don’t lose faith! I know Sharon will be happy that she’s getting lots of anagen hair to work on as she prefers it.
