An article in a national paper here in the UK caught my eye. The laser was a Titan, that not only removed hair, blemishes, vascular lesions but also performed ‘Laser Genesis’. Looking at the before and after pictures, it does indeed seem to be a remarkable laser.
On the ‘hair removal’ picture the subject is pictured pre op and immediately post op. Fantastic! Not only has it removed her hair, in that one treatment immediate post op - her double chin has gone!
Better results with the ‘vascular’. Immediate post op, the client now has a jaw line!!
How does the consumer know if these pictures were touched up with something like PhotoShop? It would be easy to do. So, no, I would never believe all I see from people that are trying to make money with an advertisment like this. Real life is just not that easy and places like this never give the story with all the maybe’s and followup information.
Skin tightening is something that was being noticed by clients and laser hair removal techs after LHR treatments via Nd:YAG lasers. During the last 2 seminars I attended, both the keynote speakers mentioned this “side effect.” I think, don’t quote me, that the laser is stimulating collagen production.
Yes, I have heard this before. When the laser heats up the dermis, the fibroblasts are stimulated and thus collagen is produced. I still hold a certain amount of skeptitism when before and after pictures are shown for anything. Just in my nature.
I think the hair removal photos are mislabeled. The one with the double chin was really for skin tightening.
There is some effect from laser treatment into the dermis. It appears that laser energy can stimulate collagen formation and hence tightening. The problem is that it seems to be a heat effect (RF energy is also used) and is quite inconsistent.
The other problem is that at too high a setting, these same laser energies can also breakdown collagen fibers.
