I just wanted to ask some peoples opinions on when to go get LHR. My wedding is in Mid July with honeymoon following after that. I wanted to get my armpits done and was wondering when people would think it would be a good time to go. I already know I could only get 1 treatment in and would like to be as “hair free” as possible.
I am light skinned with dark course hairs that are visable even right after I shave. I know it says a 4-14 day of regrowing and falling out … then after that its hairfree for a bit?
If someone could point me in the right time frames that would be great!
The hair free period does start two to three weeks after your treatment, but be careful.
I was told by my technician to avoid sun for four weeks after the treatments (in case you are going somewhere tropical for your honeymoon). Other people have said two weeks. There was a guy who posted that he went to the beach after just a couple days and he was fine.
Also, if you are having other areas treated there is the risk of burns, change in pigmentation and redness. Some people have bad reactions. Don’t risk having marks on your face or arms just before your wedding.
Pepperspots! Many people experience pepperspots after laser hair removal. These are small hairs that are dead, but are stuck in the skin. You cannot shave them away. On me, they are very noticeable, it looks like I have stubble, but when you look closely you realize my skin is smooth and the hairs are stuck in the pores.
With all of that said, I would say if you are going to do it, go 3 weeks before your wedding.
I think I was smoothest around 4 weeks after my first treatment. During the 5-8 week period I started growing a minimal amount of hair, and it was quick and easy to shave.
Great, thanks all for the replies … yes, we are going to Hawaii … so I guess you can call it someplace a bit tropical
I have heard of people “popping” our their pepperspots as well? I think I have read that in many peoples posts.
Maybe I will go 3 weeks before because then we are going to Hawaii for 2 weeks … so that way I can bee “hair free” for the majority of the time we are away.
I was going to do armpits for sure, and maybe bikini line as well
around 4 weeks beforehand would be the best way to go. 3 weeks is a little early as shedding can continue till 3.5 weeks or so. as eggplant said, week 4-5 is the best time and shaving after that is really easy if you have to.
My LHR clinic always asks me what activities I may have planned over the next month, since it is so common for folks like you to get their first treatment just prior to a huge event (such as a honeymoon). I would lean toward a longer period (3.5+ weeks) rather than shorter just in case you get a negative reaction and need time to heal. Also, since this is much like regular shaving, stick to skin areas that you already are shaving now so you don’t introduce ingrowns and regrowth itching (e.g. be careful about getting your first braz for that wedding night).
