american laser center!

i just like to know people’s opinion about them, i’m having a consultation tommarow! i had a phone call from them today they offered me a 50% off on all packages!!! please leave comments!thank you

The overwhelming experiences I have heard have been negative to awful. I would check out Smooth Solutions if you have one near (I have had good results with them) or Ideal Image.

i went in today , and bought a package! i’m getting my buttocks, naval, bikini line, and lower back. 6 treatments+ a 2 year gurantee. which is awsome, bacause i know i need like more than 10 treatments!

if you do a little search on this forum about this place, most of the experiences are negative. they use hard-sell tactics to sell you multiple areas and don’t use a good laser. i have to say i’m surprised you did this as it seemed like you were trying to do your research here. most people here that do end up staying away from that place due to so many negative reviews on all forums and the fact that most locations use an Aurora IPL, which is not effective.

Plus, their prices are not any cheaper than anywhere else. A lot of times, they’re more expensive. They just use sales tactics to make you think you’re getting a deal by offering you a supposed “50% off” or coupons etc. Most people find out that most centers in their area offer the same or lower prices without even purchasing so many areas at once. And speaking of that, I personally think it’s a bad idea because you cannot leave them if you’re not getting results and you’re paying a LOT of money up front for many areas. There are no guarantees with laser treatments. I think it’s pretty obvious from the discussions here, so I’m surprised you did this once again.

Why ask the question if you are going to go ahead and make a foolish move?

Based on other’s experiences, you’ll eventually give up going back for the free treatments as they will be as unsuccessful as the previous treatments. Most likely, you’ll spend lots of time, money, and frustration over the next couple years and achieve no positive results from this company.

I wish you luck, you’re going to need it.

i think people want some kind of confirmation that they’re not making a stupid decision…which is interesting in this case considering all the negative reviews…

Not to be the Negative Nelly here, but there is one possibility that we may not have thought out loud; This could be one of those advertising plants we often get on the site. I suppose that if we get future talk about how wonderful they are, and how this person is achieving full permanent hair removal in 3 treatments or 6, we will know that this was all just building towards creating some positive buzz for this company in the very place where most people would find the info to aviod them.

I hope it is not that, but it very well could be. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> You would not believe the number of spammers we have to delete around here sometimes.

I did consider the possibility, but decided to give it the benefit of the doubt considering the fact that this person posted asking about best ways to go before. you never know of course.

oh my god , I can’t believe i’m readin this, i’m not a freaking advertising perosn,I’m just an 18 year old person who happens to be very hairy, and i’ve given up hope, so i thought i would give American Laser Center a try, i did get a good deal, because they lady in there was greek, and she understood my pain about excessive hair and ingrown hair, and whatnot…I’ll be posting my experience with them , positive, or negative. and about all the mean comments. I have a very thick body hair, and based on my research that i’ve done their laser will remove the thick hair.

Hi I have been going to ALC for almost 2 years. What I recommend more anything is getting packages, IE 6 treatments and the 2 year guarentee.

MOST IMPORTANT: You do not need to wait for the length of time they tell you between treatments. That means that if you see more hair before the 6 week face treatment, or 13 week legs, butt etc… Get it retreated sooner and more frequently. They usually do not have a problem. Also since you are on a 2 year guarentee, that really means you get as many treatments as it takes! So if it takes 30 times to get an area that is perfectly acceptable. Definitely go for a package.

Also if you are a frequent customer, they will give you better prices on other treatments or FREE treatments. IE, I bought 7 treatments of IPL for 1500, and they threw in a Laser Hair Removal package on an area I had been considering getting done as a bonus.

If you are friendly to the staff, and they like you, they sometimes cover an area in addition to the treatment area if there is time. I recommend weekday afternoon when traffic in the clinic is slow.

the above advice is good. i should also point out that they have many locations, so each one is different depending on the manager.

roma18, noone’s trying to be mean. i think the fact that you’re really young probably has a lot to do with being a bit easily convinced. i’m not sure where you found research on effectiveness of the laser they use (or rather IPL), but i have a feeling you perceived that based on what they told you, which is somewhat biased I hope you can see. From what you have written so far, there is no indication that you understand how lasers work or what you’re signing up for (for example, do you know what specific machine they’re using? etc). there is no research out there showing that Aurora is very effective as far as I know. It CAN work ok on very light skin based on some experiences described here, but if you’re a type IV or darker, it’s tough.

It’s important to understand that everyone dealing with this hair problem is looking for an easy solution, but one doesn’t exist. that’s why these forums are so helpful. many clinics out there are, as sslhr put it, “in the business of separating the consumer from their money” (i couldn’t agree more:) ), not looking to get you results necessarily. with hair removal, this isn’t easy to achieve. Good luck.

my experience with ALC is completely negative.

okey just wanted to update my progress, it’s been couple weeks, and the hair started shedding about a week ago, not all the hair is shedding though, I would say about 50% on my bikini line, and my naval is looking pretty good, except for the ingrown hair scars( that i can’t get rid of).The experience with ALC so far has been okey. The only negative thing was that it took me couple phone calls, back and forth to make an apponitment for my first treatment, next treatment is december 18th i believe.I want to take pics so i can see the progress <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />, how can i post them here???

upload them to www.photobucket.com and post the second link they provide here (HTML code)

today is my second appointment, and i will make sure to tell her that not all the hair fell out. A question that i have is how does IPL work, in terms of settings, for exmple can they go higher on the settings if its not working or killing the hair?

they can try higher, but at some point, it won’t matter.

okey my next treatment is march 1st , that is a long time!I will update on my progress in couple weeks when the shedding starts…
