Hello baby_gal,
There are two main types of light based hair removal. IPL (which includes Epilight) and Laser. IPL have several different wavelengths of light that it fires at the skin, where as laser only uses one. That is one of the main differences with IPL’s. Laser nearly always gives better results for hair removal.
IPL’s should only be used on people with lighter skin for hair removal such as Skin type I-III (please look at Laser FAQ’s by lagirl at the top of this forum to work out, which skin type you are). Where as lasers can be used on skin type I - V or VI depending on the laser.
There are then 3 main different types of lasers (or what people call true lasers):
Alexanderlite Laser: 755nm Wavelength
Diode Laser: 800nm Wavelength
nd:YAG Laser: 1064nm Wavelength
The Alexanderlite laser should be used on skin types I - III (possibly skin type IV, however that is debatable).
The Diode laser can be used on skin types I - IV (although, on skin type IV it should be used carefully).
The nd:YAG should be used on skin types IV plus.
The lower number skin type you are e.g. Skin type I, the paler your skin is basically. Laser targets melanin, which gives hair, skin etc. its pigment. Hence why pale skin and dark hair is most preferable because the laser will attack the hair rather than the skin. The lower the wavelength the more reactive it is to pigment basically, which is the reason why the Alexanderlite laser should only be used on skin types I - III. Where as nd:YAG can be used on darker skin types.
Please have a look on the LASER FAQ’s for further information.

Please read the FAQs at the link below that explain all this in detail.
Thanx u guys for the info i rly appreciate it
and also would using a laser be more expensive than ipl ??
thanx again
Price depends on your location, the clinic you go to and so on. However, the prices do not really differ that much to tell the truth. If your looking for permanent results, my advice is go for laser.

Benji
Everything is answered in the FAQs. Price doesn’t depend on anything but what the clinic decides to charge given their costs and how much they want to make.
