I just had my first treatment w/the prowave 10 days ago for the bikini area and underarms. I’ve had some shedding and was wondering: is it bad to “help” the hairs out gently w/a pair of tweezers? Not plucking or pulling of course, just a grip on the hair to see if it slides out?
I know I’m impatient!!
Is the prowave and intensed pulsed light device or a true laser?
Have you tried exfoliating yet?
Dee, it’s an IPL, but one of the better ones.
colagal, it takes 3 weeks for hair to shed. No, it shouldn’t affec the hair if you help them slide out. As long as you’re not actually plucking, which can be hard to tell at times.
I have exfoliated some w/a loofah. Do you recommend any scrubs?
Lagirl, the few times I’ve grabbed a hair with tweezers, the hair has slid out without me feeling anything whatsoever (no pinch or pull like when you tweeze) so I’m assuming I’m not tweezing them out. Of course, my husband says I should just be patient, but that’s SO HARD for me!
I was going to go ahead and make an appointment to have my legs done with the prowave also, but after reading everything I have here in this forum, I’m going next week to a consult at a office that has the Lightsheer laser. The choices are very slim here (I’m in Columbia, SC - no Gentlelase that I could find!).
Any other suggestions, things I should know, etc?
did you check the Candela Corporation website? they have a provider search where you type in your zip to find places with it near you.
Thanks for the hint, Lagirl. I have found two places nearby (about 30 minutes away) that use the GentleLase laser. Overall is the GentleLase better than the Lightsheer?
yes, for very light skin, it is. although don’t forget that the settings matter, so the tech’s experience is what will ultimately give you better results. however, given equal expertise, GentleLASE should give better results.
Fly to Primghar Iowa. They have the cheapest prices I’ve ever seen for the GentleLase Laser. I used to drive five hours to that place. It’s pyramidied after your first treatment. I did my chest, stomach, upper arms, little bit of back. And it was ALL covered with hair all for 300…going down to 200 by the +5 treatments.
Chuck, what kind of reduction have you seen on your chest and stomach, I forget. Also, do you remember what settings they used most of the time?
