First timer wondering about Epilight® System

I am going in next week for my 1st visit. I expect between 8-10 visits (what MD said - although some happy after 5-6 but it is rare). What range of results with this maching might I expect? I don’t expect to be totally smooth, but I want a significant reduction. Does this work. Everyone has contributed so many opinions.

I have light skin, and long hair on my arms, back, chest, abs and neck I am hoping to reduce.
Any feedback would be most welcome.

I think there should be a before and after submission of pictures for anyone interested. How can that start up? I know it is a long term process, but I am willing to take before pics prior to each session, and follow up with a 6 and 12 month after pics if it will help.
Let me know if you are interested in that too.

As far as the general opinion in the laser community the EpiLight is not looked at as a great laser. If it’s really cheap, you might as well try it. I managed to get a treatment in KC on my upper arms, shoulders, traps, delts, part of upper back, below adams apple of neck, stomach, and chest for only $150 dollars first time special.

Most will tell you to try a laser such as the GentleLASE.

I used the Epilight in my last laser treatment in November, and I think it actually reduced a little bit of hair on my chest, and stomach. This is coming from a guy where laser has never worked for him really. It surely didn’t help the hair I had on my shoulders, upper arms, and upper back…and there are many cases heard of of laser induced growth in that area so beware.

  1. this is one of the worst machines. i would cancel your appt if i were you since you found this forum and can actually do appropriate research to get results. please start by reading the FAQs where you will find what is the best machine for your skin and hair type: www.hairremovalforum.com/faq.cfm

  2. i would strongly recommend against treating so many areas at once. after doing your 4-5 consultations and picking the best place, i would first start with one area and see how it goes before you commit to such a large area at once place. results vary a lot, machines vary, clinics vary, and I would not invest thousands of dollars before at least seeing some kind of results on one area.

  3. yes, please do take pictures and post them. you can upload them on this forum or you can upload them to www.photobucket.com and post the HTML code they provide right in your postings here.

  4. can you describe your hair on those areas? color? coarseness? density? upper or lower arms?

  5. it doesn’t matter if the person treating you has MD next to their name. it can even be a negative. you need someone who does hair removal all the time and knows everything about it. I doubt anyone who still treats with this old machine does.

once again, i STRONGLY urge you to stop right now and do your research first before you regret your decision.

I had laser tx with Epilight about 5 yrs ago on my upper lip and chin and it did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! I was about $1000 down the drain. I wish I had found a message board like this back when I did it!
