Hair growth after one treatment.

Hi,

Today I have removed hair from my arms (laser). I was a bit dissapointed because teh doctor told me that first session will only remove around 20% of my hair. I red on internet that first session may bring results like 30-40% less hair. Is this true ?

I am going to continue with my legs on Thursday and let’s see. Also, last question, when will my hair start with re-growth and will this hair be lighter in colour and shorter ?

The reduction depends on how many hairs are in the angen stage of growht (there are 3 cycles and this is the cycle that allows for permanent reduction by LHR). I found I had a reasonable reduction of about 25%, possibly 30% on my legs. If your looking for better results you may want to try waxing the area 6-8 weeks (depending on how fast your hair grows) before the laser treatment because it then means all the hair coming through will be in the anagen stage of growth.

The hair does grow back finer and weaker usually - this can be after 3 to 4 treatments or simply one treatment, it really depends on the individual. I think I can remember a poster who found the hair got shorter, I haven’t noticed this as of yet myself personally. What you need to make sure of is the doctor has a good tenique (overlapping during treatment) and keeps missed spots to a minimum, then you should get a nice uniform reduction.

Benji

Please read the FAQs below first!

  • You need to learn about hair growth cycles to understand the process of hair removal

  • You need to see if most of the treated hair sheds within 3 weeks to judge effectiveness of the treatment to start

  • Laser works best on coarse hair. Don’t expect stellar results on finer hair.

  • Make sure the proper laser is being used and at good settings for your skin type

  • Count on 6-8 treatments spaced 8-12 weeks apart
