How does this Australian clinic sound?

Hi Everyone,

I’m in Australia, (Adelaide), and just had a consult with a laser removal clinic called Lasertech Clinic. I’m thinking of having my chest done and this place, at least from the outside, looks fairly non-dodgy.

I’ve done my homework on this site, so I knew what to ask, but when I was talking to them they told me a few things that didn’t sit right with some of the good info I’ve picked up here. For example, the lady was adament that I should come back every four weeks for treatment. This seems way to short for me, I can’t imagine there would be much new hair growing by then, but she reckons it won’t work otherwise…?

Also, they don’t do any test patches, they just book you straight in for the session, (which she did for me for that afternoon, without me even deciding yet. I rang up and cancelled it later). She said none of the clinics do test patches on the skin anymore…Is that true? It seemed kind of an important thing to do I would have thought.

Anyway, just wondering if any of what she said is true, or if she’s trying to get more money out of me, (the place costs a fortune)? They use the LightSheer diode laser, which seems good. And they’ve been around for 8 years.

Anyway, when I finally get this thing happening I’ll post pictures of before and after. I don’t think I’ve seen any pics of male chests on this site…

Apologies to Bryce, who has pictures of male chest on this site, I just noticed.

  • you are correct. every 4 weeks is useless and will just drain your wallet for no reason. you shouldn’t have anything to treat at 4 weeks if they treat you effectively. shedding only ends at 3.5 weeks or so, and then you have to wait for new hair to come in.

  • you should check out at least 3 or so more clinics to compare everything. prices also vary a LOT.

  • ask them what settings they’re planning to use so that you can make sure that they’re going to be aggressive and won’t undertreat you. ask for joules, spot size, and pulse.
