Basically im really confused at the moment
I went for a consultation at Sk:n(London), and eventually was sort of rushed into buying the package for 6 treatments which in the end i bought.
Now i come on here and find that Sk:n isn’t exactly that good as it seems to be, i may be wrong though.
So i just need a bit of help in making sure im doing the right thing and not throwing money down the drain. So…
I believe they use the Cynosure Elite
I have black hair and Skin type is 3
I was also looking at Laser-Active in Liverpool Street and they use the Candela Gentlelase Long-Pulse Alexandrite.
So basically do you think i should stick with Sk:n or cancel the package and go to Laser-Active?
and also does laser work on really short hair?
Thank you so much!!
Laser doesn’t care if the hair is short. It just needs to be dark and coarse.
I don’t know if you even have a choice to switch. You should find that out. If you don’t, you’ll be ok here. The reviews here just say some of their techs don’t overlap well etc - so you’ll need to pay more attention, ask for settings, etc to make sure you’re getting a good treatment. Cynosure alex lasers are not as great as GentleLASE, but they’re still good.
hehe Berty im also confused about SK:N… which clinic in London did you visit for your consultation? I really dont understand the names very well but i found out SK:N, harley street (and apparently all their branches in london) use the Apogee elite 755. So you saying a different name confuses me more, unless they are the same?? :S
I was also rushed in my consultation last week and amongst other factors i decided not to go ahead. the room i had my consultation was a treatment room that had a horribly strong and unpleasant smell, also is that normal? lol
Hey PaleBoy, i went to the one in Maida Vale in Edgware Road, but now i decided not to go to Sk:n… and your absolutely right they rush you and try and get your money as quickly as possible. LOL and the treatment room i went to was pretty bad also.
Anyway yeh so i’ve finished with sk:n and now waiting for them to return my money!
Today i had a consultation at Laser-Clear in Liverpool Street. Apparently people on here say its really good and the laser they use(GentleLase) is apparently one of the best. The consultation went really well, i trust them and the people there are really nice.
Have you looked at other clinics ??
Take care,
LOL… wow i actually went to Laser-Clear in liverpool street yesterday aswell.!!
But all the nurses were off-sick, which made me slightly worried that they only have 2 nurses, but the owner had a long talk with me and he seemed really nice and spent atleast 1 hour with me explaining how everything works and what they do.
-i thought people on here were talking about Laser-Active which is also in liverpool street but alot more expensive (apparently now named Derma-Active). But i hope laser-active is also highly spoken of
I havent really been anyway else, all companies seem to claim to be the best so its really confusing where to go, i choose sk:n because i thought it was the cheapest and then looked at Laser-Active because of the gentleLASE machine, are the prices arent too bad after all. I’m having a proper consultation next week when the nurses are back.
Theres one thing thats making me think though… i’m not sure what to think. The owner kept telling me within 6 sessions the hair will be permenently removed 98.9% of the time, and i thought that was a bold claim and kept telling him ive researched and it can vary alot especially with men and could be up to 10 sessions which i cannot afford. He then said that every treatment after the package of 6 is half price if required, and then to reassure me i will not need more then 6, he said he would give me the 7th treatment free (i told him my money situation and i’m a student). but he insisted i really wouldnt need more then 6, but also that i had to have no less then 6 for it to be effective.
He also added that treatments must be within 6 weeks apart, i mentioned to him online experts have advised me that it should be 8 - 12 weeks apart. Now i dont know who to listen to… lol
i was thinking going for 8 weeks apart, somewhere in the middle
what does everybody think, experts, patients, readers, spiders(what is a spider lol)
Make sure to get any special offers like this in writing.
And go in when you have enough hair to treat. That’s usuall in 8-12 weeks. You don’t need to run it by them or argue over it. Just make an appt and go when you think you need to go.
