Potato peels may help in easing out the ingrown hair. Also keep your skin moist.
Potato peel? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. That is a novel approach. How does that work exactly.
The website in your post has woefully out dated information about laser and erroneous information about electrolysis. I hope any hair consumer reading that information will keep what is said at an arm’s distance.
For instance, waxing an area before having laser? When you remove the target, the hair, how effective will the treatment be?
This is the kind of information that this website is constantly alerting the consumer to and it really doesn’t need to be here cluttering the neophyte’s mind.

are you picking the area? are you using aloe vera and letting it heal? are they ingrowns?
no LAgirl i’m not picking at the area, i dont even shave the area, only before a laser treatment. i dont think there are anymore major ingrown hairs left just spots from the old ones, and no I’ve never used aloe vera and don’t know really much about it.
roma18,
Are these red spots at all painful? or just discoloration?
They look like irritated follicles. Rather than just applying aloe, lets try something else for a week or so.
How about trying one of these 2 or 3 times per day for a week or so…
Thin layer of Neosporin
or
Tendskin
or
Sharps Barber Brigade No Shine Face Toner(mostly witch hazel with salicylic acid and triclosan)(Can usually be found at Target/Walmart).
Your clothing rubbing accross this area is a likely factor in this irritation. You could try placing a gauze bandage to protect the area while treating with one of the above antibiotics.
Another possibility is Hydrocortisone Cream 1%.
Good Luck.

Watch out, lasers can give you erythrothrombisis (vascular bed dispruption) on your abdomen. That is the area most susceptible. Those spots can turn into brown spots (and stay with you for a long time, or forever.
Be careful, don’t make your condition worse.

to me, these look like irritated ingrown hair follicles, similar to after waxing over a period of time. i would probably finish treatments and then go to an electrologist to pick those out. you would probably need to finish with electrolysis anyways for 100% removal as I did.
Regarding the photo. It is hard to say for sure what I am seeing given that the photo is out of focus when zoomed in. But what it looks like is a combination of first an acute process (acute meaning current) that look like pustules. They could be an ingrown hair or even run of the mill acne. They look too fresh to be something that has existed many months. The second problem seems to be post-inflammtory hyperpigmentation, which is a pretty common problem where the melanocytes start putting out melanin in response to some inflammatory process. This is what explains the increase pigment seen around cuts and scrapes for example. This can last months to even longer.
What I find curious, if I understand you properly, is that you have had this for quite a while and your laser center has continued to laser the area with this happening? I would think that anyone who sees this would not laser the area until this resolves. Or have I misunderstood what is happening?
Regarding Mantaray’s comments.

I have to be honest and say that I have never heard of erythrothrombosis and can’t find it in any of my medical dictionaries. And actually the word makes no sense. Erythro means related to red blood cells and thrombosis means a clot of red blood cells. So no one would reasonably use erythro as a prefix to thrombosis since thrombosis incorporates erythro.
As far as causing damage into the vascular bed, there is some of that especially with the YAG laser at high power on light skin. For the most part it is pretty benign and should not cause any kind of brown spots (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation). Rather what it causes is angiogenesis (for those who want big medical words) that result from the vascular bed injury. Later secondary hyperpigmentation can always occur, but is rather unlikely. And there is no reason for the abdomen to be more susceptible. In fact, I would think that somewhere like the chin would be actually a worse location. And finally, this is rarely, if ever a problem with the alexandrite laser.
Some are existing ingrown hair, and some are just brown spots from pervious ones. Well when i started getting laser it was actually worse i literally had hundreds of ingrown hair just everywhere on my stomach, and new ones would form , because I would shave. My laser practionor told me that laser would be good , since the only way that i could completely get rid of the ingrown hairs would be to remove the hair permantely.even though that’s not the case, i still see a big improvement, however i still don’t feel like I’ve reached my goal which is to not have these ingrown hairs and brown spots anymore.
Roma18, how are your brown spots doing? I’m in a similar situation and was just wondering if your spots have started to fade.
The brown spots have compeletly faded. Laser did help by getting rid of about 40% of the hair, but i still have alot of hair though they are lighther and not as thick as they use to be. Ingrown hair scars take forever to fade, mine took soooo long and I was getting frustared. What upset me alot was that not only was it taking forever to fade, I swear I would get a new spot every other day, so I did alittle research, and finally took the right step and started doing salicylic acid peels on my stomach, not only did the ingrown hair stopped, my skin was so smooth, and nice to look at. I even purchased the stuff myself, and started doing it myself since it was quite expensive to do the peels at the salon every week.
Also I had all the ingrown hair removed by a professional (electrologist),I started my peels after letting my skin heal for about 2 weeks.
Oh, that’s so good to hear. What products did you use for the at home salicylic acid peels?
I purchased it at kaviskin.com.
