Hi, I have had some great success with laser. My underarms are like baby-smooth after 3 treatments. I’ve had good results on my legs and bikini also, but these areas have always been more sensitive. Waxing caused ingrowns (which is why I was led to the laser), and the follicles on my legs tend to get an unattractive, inflamed, purplish look to them. But right now my worst problem area is the bikini. The technician told me that the laser will kill the ingrowns, but it takes your body awhile to flush away the burned hair, which is trapped under the skin. Is this what everyone else has experienced? Right now I have a really bad ingrown on my bikini line. It is purplish and raised (so very obvious), and then I can see the smudge of dark hair under the skin. I admit that I’ve tried to get rid of it, but I don’t want to traumatize my skin too much. Should I just go to the dermatologist and have it professionally taken care of? What has everyone else’s experience been with this?
Some people are just more prone to ingrowns. How long has it been since your last treatment? Are you still in the shedding phase? You can get a product called Tend Skin for ingrowns. Or you can remove it carefully yourself. An electrologist can do it for you too. You can also try exfoliating.
