… i had a treatement on my uper lip twice so far spaced 5 weeks apart. They used that ipl SMART PLUS:
I havent experienced any shedding at all… so i decided not to go any more. that was some 2 moths ago
I wanted to treat small area first, like uper lip, see how it goes and eventually do full legs.
after reading this forum i came to conclusion i shouldnt have treated my uper lip in the first place beacause the hair is very fine… ( especially not with ipl)
I went back to talk with the lady who treated me and i have couple of questions…
Is it true that this ipl works by using the stubble above skin surface to lead the heat into the folicule? hair that was shaved wont be affected? they did shave my uper lip b4 treatement… I am very confused? HOw is that possible? I know that hair is an isolator, so how???
If that is true why cant one just dye hair and get results?
Anybody can explain?

you are correct to question this and it sounds like their lack of knowledge is why they’re using an inferior machine.

  • laser is attracted to pigment. energy from laser shouldn’t be wasted on hair above the skin, so shaving is necessary. it needs to target the root. that’s why dying won’t work.

  • you need to find a place with true laser to treat your legs. go with electrolysis for your upper lip.

  • stay away from that place.

i was just wondering if it was possible that some ipl work that way…
I did find a clinic with alexandrite gentlelase and already went for first treatement a month ago. however they used pretty low settings. 15mm 20J
Oh well.
will try to discuss about settings they are planning to use on my next visit b4 i acctually make another appointement…( i was writing about it in another post… and will try to update it as well… i didnt want to mix the subjects…)
ABout electro…
i have been doing electrolyis for 7 years now on my upper lip…
I know it shouldnt take nearly as long…
My option for uper lip were…

  • shaving ( not acctually an option for uper lip)
    -waxing ( might acctualy increas hairgrowth and ingrowns)
  • with electro…( i did notice a readuction in my hairgrowth so it was definitely better option than first 2.
    however they did not treat the hairs just below my nose cause they cant see the root. ( i belive now, they were plucking soemtimes so i was doing 2 steps forward and one back ALL the time!
    Thats why i wanted to try this ipl to finish it ( now i know it shoudl be the other way round)…
    I thought they would tell me if i was a good candidate for ipl hair removal or not…fullish me!
    The lady didnt even question weather it will work or not… ( i told them i was conserned on my first visit…) such a full!
    It so unbelievable hard to find a clinic for electro and laser…acctaully to find people who know what they are doing
    I am from europe…
    so imagine if u guys from states have problem finding a clinic…
