I had my third consolation today with a local dermatologist about hair removal on my back/shoulders/neck. The last 2 places I went to use GentleLASE & he uses the Palomar Starlux IPL. He says it’s just as effective as the laser, but it’s actually safer to use. Not as much chance of burning. The price is about the same as the GentleLASE clinic I’m considering, so I’m trying to weigh my options. It’s nice to have an actual dermatologist do the procedure, however I’ve haven’t heard that many good positive things about the effectiveness of an IPL.
Any suggestions? I’m soooo close to staring my treatments!
You do know that there may be a chance of laser hair stimulation on these areas. At least if you have been reading this forum and cosmetic enhancements forums for awhile, you would have seen several men post that they had this problem. If you know this before you start, then you won’t be kicking yourself, or anyone else, if this happens without your knowledge. You may have already been involved in this discussion here on hairtell, so sorry if I sound redundant, jg2.
I vote for a GentleLase because the feedback from consumers has been so good. I’m assuming that you have the right skin color and hair structure and color for this powerful LASER. Did the dermatologist mention any other risks besides a chance of burning? Better line up a skilled electrologist to refine the area after LASER has reduced all the hair it possible can, then you’ll really be in good shape when this al is said and done.
Can u share with us what method were u using? waxing? were u removing hairs from that area at all?
In most cases ingrown hairs are a side affect of shaving or waxing( or any other method which involvs pulling the hair out of the root.
It can happen even if u dont mese up with ur hair but not so often.
Being a dermatologist has nothing to do with how good they are at LHR. It can actually mean they’re worse at it since they have more important things they devote their time to. Best people in LHR are those who do it 24/7, not other procedures. This is sort of obvious from what he told you since that statement is completely untrue (actually the opposite is true as stated in the FAQs). I would not even hesitate when choosing GentleLASE here.
