Laser again?

I don’t answer my phone either when I’m working on someone, but I do get back to them quick like a bunny once I’m free. My clients know this and after they have their first consult, they know to leave a voice message or an e-mail. I spend time between appointments or at the end of the day responding.

If you pay for an hour, you should get an hour. Sleathily take yor own timer and push the button when she makes the first insertion. if that seems overboard to you, then just use your watch. That’s what’s great about the management system on the Apilus Platinum or SX-500, when the receipt is printed, the exact minutes and insertions are right there on the paper to give to the client. However, if the electrologist is interrupted, you still have to observe if she hit the pause button or the seconds will keep ticking.

I went to my next consult today. She was very upset that I had all over scabbing from my last treatment. She told me it was not the norm. I feel very comfortable with her and when she did a few test hairs I only felt the slightest prick and pull. What caught me off guard is that she told me I should have laser hair removal instead of electrolysis(she does both at her salon). She said that since it was perm. on a large area of my face before that it should give the same results on the rest of my hair. I only had four treatments, spaced a month apart in 2000. The doctor said I was done after the forth time. She checked the hairs that she did electrolysis on and said the root is black like the hair, so the laser will get it. She also said if there were a few that didn’t respond to laser she would get them with electrolysis afterwards. I am a little confused, but I figure since she does both modes that she isn’t just trying to make me buy something I don’t need. She could have easily just did the electrolysis. Does anyone on here do both electrolysis and laser? Any suggestions?

So the second electrologist you had a consult with, never worked on you, but she suggested laser because the first electrologist left you with scabbing? Maybe she is not confident with her level of electrolysis care. You know what I’m going to say next - if you go to a professional electrologist that has te best equipment and skill to use that equipment, then you will be fine. If there is no one like that in North Carolina, then do the laser thing, but I bet there are a few that can handle that facial hair just fine.

I would suggest you private message poster ‘Choice’. She will guide you and if you live close to her, she can do both electrolysis and/or laser for you. She has a great epilator and knows what she is talking about for both modalities, so if you can , get some guidance from her.

LOL, she did contact me. The second electrologist she is seeing was at the top of the list of names I gave her.

I know this current electrologist would not recommend laser over electrolysis unless she sincerely thinks the hairs are coarse enough for laser.

There are 2 other electrologists in that office, and when the newest one took her licensing exam, I happened to be at the board office and she brought an Apilus with her. It looked like an SX 500, but I didn’t have time to go inspect. So I assumed, if the the owner, who Hairytooth is seeing, bought an Apilus for the new electrologist, then she probably uses one too???

Well, yippee, sounds like hairtooth is on the right track.

Thanks Choice,

Dee

The second electrologist didn’t suggest laser because of the scabbing. She just said that with proper technique I shouldn’t have it. She did a few hairs with her Apilus and I didn’t get any scabs. After looking at my hairs she said they were coarse enough for laser. I am going to do the laser since I am more comfortable not having to grow out the hair.
Next hard step for me is going to be to shave my face. I used to do it and cover with tons of makeup, but emotionally I don’t know if I can handle it again.
Dee-I did contact Choice for a referal. I am very happy I did.

With good magnification, one would only need to go 24 to 72 hours without shaving. I have worked on people who shaved 4 to 6 hours prior to my working on them. It only slowed the speed of treatment, as grasping the hairs was not as easy as grasping in a general direction, it had to be very exactly done. One also had to hope the hair did not slip out of the grip of the forceps.

I would be sure that I could strip you bare with just 48 hours growth and work at a good speed. I don’t know what those near you are able to do.
