Laser Question for LA Girl

Hi, it’s me again. I asked you a few questions a few weeks ago about laser and my intention to go to Duke University for my laser treatment since I thought they were a reputable place etc.

Well, it seems you were right, because I have now decided to not go to Duke for the laser. The reason is because when I called their office to set up an initial consultation, the staff there seemed very clueless as if I was the first person to ever call there requesting laser. I figured that if they had a lot of experience doing this, then they wouldn’t have been acting so clueless. It was weird…they distribute these pamphlets advertising laser treatment, and then when someone calls their office they react as if I called and requested a massage from a green martian or something…

Anyway, now I feel like I’m back at square one. I wanted to ask you how exactly I can go about locating reputable laser techs in my area? Do you guys have a list of verified, experienced laser techs for North Carolina?

Also, I was wondering, since after reading some of the posts and learning that laser is not permanent for some people, should I just get it done on one part of my body to see if it works there…and would I then be safe to assume that if it works there it will work on other parts just as well? Or is it possible that the laser could work on one part of the body and not on other parts?

Thanks!

what areas are you looking to treat? what is your skin and hair type? i’m sorry if you have to repeat, but i answer too many posts to remember all the details for each person.

once you have narrowed down a laser type that’s best for you, you can use google, search function on this site, referrals section on this site and cosmetic enhancements forum, and laser manufacturer provider searches on their site to pick 3-4 places to have consultations at. if you know what you’re looking for (which you would after doing some research and reading the FAQs here), you will be tell who knows what they’re doing at the consultation.

Laser IS permanent, but yes, it’s a good idea to start with one area, not just to judge if it will work for you, but to see how your skin reacts, how high of settings you can handle on that laser, etc. if you’re happy, you can move on to other areas without investing a large chunk of money first.
