LHR - Miami - Recommendations

Hello All,

Incredibly informative forum!! Will be attempting a full body and could use some help narrowing in on Types of Lasers so that I can narrow down to the right clinic. Assumption - Gentlelase seems to work well for most type II and diode/yag for 3 and above?

After going through the FAQ’s and performing related searches for the South Florida,/Miami area, I noticed that there really seemed to be only one recommendation for Marion Ellner out of Boca and pretty general recommendations for Ideal Image and Body Details.

Has anyone had any recent Miami success (or horror) stories with type II-III skin so that I can do an initial consultation??

Many thanks in advance and for previous posters!!

Steven

I just answered another girl accidentally that I thought was your posting. I went to Ideal Image for a consultation. I can honestly tell you that I was NOT impressed at all. They are the Premium Priced LHR company and they use the same lasers as many of the other consultations I went to. They also do not have a very good reputation as I quickly found out after talking with several other people (not competitors). Their guarantee is not the best and there have been several postings on other sites on the internet about burns etc… I ended up going with American Laser and I am thrilled with my decision. They were much more professional and gave a much better guarantee. My co worker had his back done at Ideal Image and has had 12 treatments and still has about 80% of the hair he started with. Yes, he did his appointments exactly when he was suppose to and never missed a treatment. Now they are saying he can either pay 5995 again or pay (their guarantee) of 599.00 per treatment but they are saying he will probably need at least 8 treatments. Crazy!!! Check with ALC if they are in your area. You won’t be disappointed. Good Luck

I don’t know if this is supposed to be an ad for ALC, but it’s either that or coheedgirl doesn’t know enough about lasers to provide any recommendations. Recommending a laser center without having gotten any results yet is not a recommendation. This isn’t like buying a massage. There are many variables in order to get results. ALC gets the worst reviews because they usually employ used car salesmen tactics to sell you on non-refundable high-priced packages. Most of their clinics do not use the best lasers in the industry and they don’t provide separate lasers for light and dark skin. They treat everyone in the same way. Guarantees are useless in this business. Noone can guarantee you results. It’s just a sales tactic that you won’t take advantage of anyway as you will stop going after you’re not getting results. Going for more useless treatments doesn’t help get results. 80% result is a great results with laser. Good luck with getting that with ALC - I would be shocked if you do. Lasers do not remove 100% of the hair, no matter what laser or company. You need to learn how lasers work in order to understand why. I would recommend to read the FAQs below.

Ideal Image is expensive, but they use good lasers and usually have one for light and one for dark skin. Most feedback we see from their clients here is positive.

Tcomwiz, try searching the costmetic enhancements forum as well for recommendations. But if you check out 3-4 clinics with GentleLASE (if you have type II-III, that’s best), then you should be able to determine yourself which has your interests in mind.

i have had great results with ideal image. I have 70% hair reduction on my back after my third treatment. I went to the ideal image in Newark DE.

angelo, you seem to be confused on whether you work at a clinic or are a patient. you’ve posted 3 posts so far, some saying you “treat” people and others saying you are a patient.

I am a patient, I have been part of several clinical trials for LHR.

so how did you “treat” people as a patient?

I don’t post often but if you have not done so pls schedule a consultation at Forever Young MedSpa in Cooper City. We use the Palomar Starlux for hair reduction and achieve 80% or more reduction in 90% of our clients. The Staxlux to my knowledge is the only IPL ever subjected to a double blind study vs. the Gentlelase and Lightsheer. There was no statistical difference between all three for hair reductio. Patient comfort was reported better on the Starlux. This is not to say the Starlux is better but it tested as good as traditional gold standard lasers and is the only IPL ever tested in that fashion.

Really?

It would be helpful if you posted those citations/ studies for the discriminating minds here on hairtell to read. Could you offer that information?

Thanks,

Dee

yes, we’d love to see a link to that study.

A few points on your comment.

  1. “80% or more reduction in 90% of our clients.” I sorry, but do you consider that good? We see much better results. And I find it hard to believe your clients would be happy with that. Mine wouldn’t be happy.

  2. There were a number of blinded studies involving the Epilight many years back. Plus, technically speaking, the study could not be a double blinded study. In a double blind study, neither the person receiving the treatment nor the person giving the treatment knows which treatment is which. This was probably a single blind study. In other words, the people who assessed the results didn’t know which machine was used on a particular client. But the people who performed the treatment knew and the clients probably knew also (unless they were unconscious). They may not have known the difference, but they would know which machine was used.

  3. Finally, I heard this study presented at a conference which I attended. The problem with the study is twofold. First, the study had way too few clients. Second, the study was only 3 or 4 txts, by my memory. But I do distinctly remember thinking that they hadn’t done enough treatments to really tease out the difference. The major differences between the different systems (especially with the parameters that they were using) is down the road after 6 to 8 or more treatments. Not after four.

  4. Finally, even though there was no statistically significant difference there was a difference between the results. I remember thinking that had they had more people enrolled in the study and done more treatments per person that the results may have reached statistical significance. By the way, the alex had the better results at the end by a little bit.
