It sounds like you have pepperspots. Don’t worry about them. They will get killed on your next treatment or will fall out before then. I wouldn’t retreat any areas yet. It’s too early and you would just be affecting the same hair. Some clinics offer free touchups 2-3 weeks after the treatment for any missed areas, but those are the ones that have hair growing as usual the entire time.
In general, we recommend to get at least 4-5 treatments on any one area first and see how things go before adding more areas. It’s hard to say how well things are working until you’ve had a few treatments.
sorry i dont really understand your reply. i remember you saying that i should go back for my next treatment within 8 to 12 weeks. next week it will be exactly 10 weeks.
shall i go for my 2nd treatment next week or not?
i mean, all my chest and upper back hair have fully grown back for the exception of my upper legs. as you can see on the pic below only %20 have grown. the rest are still under my skin or very but very short.
the thing is i already bought my flight ticket. shall i leave my upper legs for the next session cos you are saying they might not be affected?
hey i finally got it done last monday. all my body on 18 jules! did it hurt? oh yes it hurt so much.
my only issue is that after 4 day i have noticed some yellow spots on my legs(only) anybody know what they are? they are about 15 of them. 1 or 2 seem to be on an area which hasnt been treated!
just an update:
i have checked my legs again and all the yellow spots seem to have gone. but im still very curious to find out what were those spots that i had for 3 days?!?
Might be a form of hyperpigmentation. I had a few on my face after the first few laser treatments (where the laser really hurt the most!) and some on my legs after doing electrolysis on them. Later laser treatments on my face did not cause any more (due to less density of the hair I hypothesize.) In both cases they went away quickly for me as well. Were they kinda yellowish brown?
It looks like you are going through a similar experience to mine. I’ve looked at your pictures. Particularly your upper legs pictures 2 months after the first treatment is exactly what I had after my 1st.
I mean the hairs are stuck in the skin as pepperspots and some time later, and regardless of these pepperspots (eventually they are expelled), very weak light hair kicks in but 1 in a 1cm2 maybe (pretty sporadic). I don’t know if it is because the practitioner didn’t overlap properly, but I can tell you for the areas which is as much androgen sensitive as upper arms, shoulders, back and upper legs, this should not happen. I am mentioning chest, abs, lower arms, lower legs, and etc. If you work with a professional practitioner performing good overlapping, you should be left with a complete shedding followed by weaker regrowth uniformly all over the place. If not enough overlapping applied, this may leave you with puzzled hairs just stopping growing but never shedding either; eventually they continue where they are left off, and resume growing. The result is, you have unsynchronized and wide range of different length and diameter hair. This also makes it problematic to thin out hair uniformly for the upcoming sessions. Overlapping is important in the sense that peak energy goes into the center of spot area laser pulse is applied.
I am talking based on my experience. F.e. I went for full arm LHR. First treatment was such a pleasure, excellent smooth shedding, excellent regrowth. Second treatment was the other side of the coin: Practitioner didn’t know what she was doing and she over-treated and under-treated some areas. And, it is hard for you realize how the treatment is going; is she doing OK? You have no clue. After you go home and some time passes by, boom. You now see, you can welcome all types of hair from different heritage, color, race, length, and etc. :), and you get to know what diversity actually means :). So, take my word, try to get as much info as you can about the center, the practitioner and etc. you go to make sure something will not go out of way and will not give you headaches in the future.
If the hair is left as pepperspots and is not growing as usually after 3 weeks, it’s been killed. The new hairs you see within a few weeks after are NEW hairs from the next phase of growth.

Yes, I know this. I didn’t want to mean that. I will rephrase my post.
i would like to get advise on when to go for my 3rd session.
i had my 1st on 13/05/08 and the 2nd on 21/07/08 with a 10 weeks space between.
the recommended me to go in end this month(it will be exactly 10 week after the 2nd treatment)
but then, i remember lagirl quoting “Treatment spacing should be 8-12 weeks. You should go back when you feel there is enough hair to justify a treatment”
i am kinda confused with the word “should”. is it better to get treated within the approximately 10 week hair growing cycle to kill the them faster even if not all the hair have grown back?
lets say that i had 100% in the beginning.
i went in for my 2nd treatment with only 75% hair grown
and at present(8 weeks after my 2nd treatment) only %65 has grown back.
i assume that the hair that havent grown back arent dead yet only after 2 sessions and are still somewhere under my skin, right?
the big question now, shall i go in for my 3rd session within approx 10 week period? considering that a lot of my hair havent surfaced yet…
here is are 2 pics;
4 weeks after 2nd session:
8 weeks after 2nd session:
by the way, as you can see on the 1st picture some hair(about %15) have remained and have never shed. eventually have grown back. is this what you call the pepperspots things or what?
Pepperspots are dead hair debris that have been trapped under the skin. They will be blown out on future treatments.
What settings and machine were you treated on. 4 weeks post treatment you should not see hair growth.
What area are you treating? The area dictates how far apart treatments should be. Generally you should have your treatment within 2 weeks of new hair growth.
hi,
the machine used was candela gentlelase 18mm spot
1st: 14 jules
2nd: 18 jules
on the settings screen it also said 742. dont know what that means. do you?
areas: full chest, upper back, bottocks, upper legs and neck.
the thing i dont understand is the following;
on my 1st treatment about 25% hair have never shed
and on my 2nd about 15%. both times, they eventually grew back.
I believe 18 Joules on 18 mm spot is a sufficient setting, rising the expectation for a full shedding.
742 is probably the pulse count at some time during the treatment.
::: full chest, upper back, buttocks, upper legs and neck :::
If you look at the composition of hairs populating those areas individually, you’ll notice, upper back and upper legs have more ratio of fine hairs. These areas are more androgen sensitive respect to the others. They produce much more numbers of hairs in the same period of time. The number is high, but because most of them are fine and some of them are invisible to the naked eye unless close examination is not done. So, since fine hairs are not much effected as those coarse hairs under laser beam, and these areas constantly provide hairs, to expect full shedding for these areas is not realistic. If you don’t witness full shedding then it does not mean you haven’t received a proper treatment. However, full shedding on other areas of body, like chest, buttocks and neck is a good indication of proper treatment. %25 of hair that did not shed in these latter areas is not good news. In these areas as I told above all the hairs seem to match each others characteristic, so if one responds to laser then the ultimate majority should respond. Why does not it happen then? Well, if you ask me, I’d say not good overlapping. It is simply because the technician missed some areas. I can tell the difference between a good and bad job since I experienced both. For my chest treatments I had full shedding (not a single hair left) in 3 of 4 treatments.
When you say 25 and 15% didn’t shed, do you mean they remained as pepperspots or they just grow as usual from day one? Pepperspots are fine. They’re dead hairs. You should only be concerned with hair that grows as usual right after the treatment and never sheds. And if it’s less than 15% of that, I wouldn’t worry too much. They’re just missed hairs. You can get a touchup on them 3 weeks after the treatment, otherwise, they’ll just get them next time.
lagaril,
same remained as pepperspots(mainly on my legs) but many(%15) have never shed and continued to grow as usual from day one.
ok some of those hair were fine/blond but a lot of dark hair still remained. as you can see on the 1st picture uploaded above. thats a picture of my chest hair(where most hair havent shed)
vklepil,
the technician couldnt have missed those spots. i mean all the hair that remained were all spread. i am not talking about a specific area here.
