My electrolysis after laser triggered growth

Had my 15 min. today. The area looked a little red & bumpy after treatment but within 2 hours had much settled down. I have a little bumpiness left, but I put a little tea tree oil on so hopefully it will go down by tomorrow. It is not bad at all though because there was not much to do. I only needed about 10 min. of treatment and some of that was probably for hairs that I could have lived with anyways. There were just a few that were long or dark enough for me to care about.

Okay, so you are approximately 7 months into this and it appears things are winding down quite a bit. Good news indeed, laserhater. I’m remembering back at how unhappy you were, so it is extra special to hear that all is well with your face. This is the expected outcome for electrolysis clients who find someone SKILLED and who actually sticks to a good schedule. Your 98% there.

Not to sound like I am piling on here, but can you speak to the idea posed here quite often that many people would do better to just go straight for electrolysis, and would actually be farther along in their treatment, if they just spent the money they allocated for Light Amplification by Stimulation of Radiation (LASER) on a Highly Skilled Electrologist who has moderate speed while producing acceptable skin results?

Lets even go so far as to ask, what do you think you would have gotten, had you spent your LASER money on electrolysis in the first place?

Oh how I wish I had done electrolysis in the first place. Not to even mention the anxiety, stress, confusion, betrayal and heartache, let’s do the numbers: $2150 on laser to grow more hair than ever before & $1200 on endocrinology bloodwork & appts. (remember they had never seen increased growth on someone who didn’t have a “horrible” hormone problem even though I had no other symptoms or problem hair areas. . . I should get that checked right away!) vs. $855 on electrolysis to remove old and new hair. That brings the grand total to remove teeny sideburns to $4205 (And I’m not exactly Laserhater Trump!) I can go to 4 more electrolysis appts. and still spend under $1000 to be completed. I’m already going 35 days in between treatments! WOW! I know there are some people out there that laser works for, but the rest of us get really screwed! What still amazes me is that I went to my dermatology office, where the laser technician is also an electrologist! This whole process has really tested the limits of my faith in professionals. It’s really hard not to be conspiracy minded and think everyone is only out there to make a quick buck. Um, but I’m not bitter, nope, not me.

the problem are money-hungry and inexperienced laser operators who want your money too much and don’t know enough to determine that treating fine hair on a small area like sideburns on a woman’s face is not only inefficient and ineffective, but at the same time has the potential to cause more growth.

From personal experience, I can say I’m 100% satisfied with laser results on bikini and underarms where hair was dense, coarse, and plentiful and would not choose electrolysis for those areas. I would still be doing electrolysis there if I did that, and I haven’t touched either with laser in almost 6 months now. They’re smooth after only 6 and 5 treatments respectively at $100 each (so much cheaper and much less of a time committment)

However, I’m also very happy with my electrolysis results on stomach, nipple area, eyebrows and upper lip, and I would under no circumstances do laser on those.

The most important point here is education in selecting the best method for your situation and finding an experienced practitioner in both areas, who is genuinely interested in getting you results and not money, as well as knows the best way to kill various types of hair and points you in the right direction. Alas, the world is not perfect yet.

Just thought I’d update on everything. I made another 15 minute appt. for next Monday. It will only be 2 1/2 weeks since my last, however there are 6 (count-'em) hairs coming through and I want them gone for the 4th of July as we will be at the beach. After that I will go back to every 4-6 weeks until nothing offending comes in. I wonder how much longer till I’m “all the way” done. . .It’s now been 8 months.
As far as an update on my skin, it is looking OK. Remember I work as a make-up artist so I am VERY scrutinizing of even the slightest mark. I do have some mild pitting and uneven texture that only I can see under bright light without make-up. I read and re-read Toni’s posts on healing after skin damage and hope that mine will resolve as hers did. I think I may have overtreated in the beginning, but definitely not now. I continue to use dermatologist recommended skincare products to assist healing and collagen growth, SPF 30 daily and take lots of H2O and vitamins.

Laserhater,
You just have no idea how true your remarks are to me. I have had the complete same experience as you. I spent $2,000 to $2,200 on laser treatments over the course of thirty weeks that went nowhere. I have spent $520 over eight weeks for electrolysis and, although people think of electrolysis as slower, it is turning out to be faster. That laser money could’ve bought 32 hour long electrolysis sessions, at around thirty weeks! And I would’ve been done. So those thinking that laser is this fast-track to getting rid of hair, think again.

…Sometimes the old ways are best.

And you’re right about feeling good. I feel better and better and better with every successive electrolysis treatment. I am so eager for the next treatment that I need to keep myself from showing up for my appointment a half hour early.

I know! Doesn’t it make you furious? Anyways, I’m glad we finally figured out what to do. I always enjoy reading your posts. You’ve managed to keep a good attitude about everything. I fight it more than you I think. I am still so pissed. I think it’s because it’s my face we are talking about here. However, I am focusing more and more on being grateful for electrolysis than feeling slighted by laser. Good luck!

Hey Everybody,
Just an update on my facial electrolysis. I went last week for a 15 min. appt. There were about 11 hairs total to treat on both sides. I haven’t done my face at all in 3 months and that is all that was popping up. My skin looks great and is smoooooooth. I can remember a year ago when all I did was comb over hairtell posts and cry all day holed up in my house feeling like a freak. I am so grateful for electrolysis and this site! 10/31 will be my one year anniversary that I started electrolysis on. I was true to the completion schedule that James & Dee speak of! WOW!

I am so happy for you!

I know I am preaching to the choir when I say, “Now you see why I am left saying that assuming the availability of a good electrologist, the average person would get more of what they are actually hoping to get for their money with electrolysis without the risks of Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.”

So are you sending me a Michael Vick Jersey this week? Looks like I won the one year bet LOL

You brought a smile to my face, laserhater. I sincerley feel so very happy for you. Your consistent posts have allowed us to peek into your world over the past year and I’m sure this has encouraged thousands on this site to be hopeful.

Have you… or could you post information about your electrologist so others can benefit in your locale? She’s your special friend indeed.

Love,

Dee

Congratulations! It may be a bit late, but I read parts of your thread and even though I’m a male I can definitely relate to laser induced hair growth. This gives me some hope that I definitely was looking for. How much did the electrolysis end up costing you so far in the long run? Once again, glad to here of your results

I have spent $900 so far on facial electrolysis and I am pretty much done. That’s just over a third of what I paid the laser industry to make it grow…

Hey Everybody,
OK I haven’t posted in a while & wanted to check in. After this post, I might not be in again. After completing my electrolysis, I am ready to move on from hair removal and get on with life. I haven’t had a treatment in 5 months and haven’t had one single hair pop up. My skin looks great. I am so happy and grateful to hairtell & my electrologist.

Thank you to Andrea for starting this site and helping people everywhere. Thank you to James & Dee for your special help and advice for me during this process. I appreciate you all so much.

Also an FYI on the lawsuit against the dermatologist that treated me with LHR without warning me that increased hair growth was a risk: It’s a no-go for now. I hit dead end after dead end. It is more important for me to move on than recover any money from them. So, I planned to give a percentage to hairtell when I got that. Since that isn’t happening I picked up an extra shift this week and am giving that instead. Hairtell was invaluable to me in my time of need and it is important to show appreciation! Take care everybody!
LaserHater

It is rare that past-posters like yourself make such an effort to come back and update us and offer such a warm thank you. Personally speaking, this is the kind of random action that gives me more energy to stay close to hairtell.

I’m sorry about the lawsuit situation, but you have done a great deal of good for yourself anyway just by checking in on hairtell and finding another way to solve your unwanted facial hair problem, which was permanent hair removal with electrolysis. Through your experience laserhater, I would hope that other consumers looking for answers would not be so quick to jump on the laser wagon for facial hair especially.

Thank you for your 132 posts spread out over 2 years and kudo’s to your new special friend - your electrologist. Come back and visit whenever you get a chance.

Love,

Dee

I can only echo Dee’s comments.

Thank You for all you have done, and continue to pay it forward.

Congrats on the electrolysis. What was your laser induced hair growth again? You said you spent only $900? That is nuts. I am in the process of electrolysizing (if that is a word heh) my entire shoulders, way upper back, upper arms and I’ve almost dropped two grand and I’m not even to my first clearance yet.

I’ve thought about a lawsuit, but there is no way that I would win. I have no photos or anything. Only people that can attest to my laser induced hair growth is my original laser tech. He is too nice of a guy for me to try to go after, and I don’t blame MD’s and Dermatologists that treat people with LHR machines. Most of them are not aware of laser induced hair growth. It seems to only pop up in men on the back, shoulders, upper arms area from the cases I’ve read…althought I could be wrong.

and women’s faces (especially darker skin and finer hair) which is what laserhater experienced.

900 bucks is pretty cheap if you are getting rid of any problem area no matter what it is. Once again, congrats on your success. I hope to have success in electrology one day, but it is to early to tell. I haven’t read about laser induced hair removal in women, but it seems to be popping up everywhere.
