My Progress

See, I told you so. Without a full before, during and after photo set, one had a totally distorted view of one’s progress. Of course, the last thing a first time electrolysis client wants to do is take a before picture. It is sometimes worse than trying to take a before picture of someone going on a weight loss system.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! i cant get access to th epictures… i made a profile with yesalbum website so that i can access your pictures, but it still wont work. just my luck! couldnt you upload them to the forum in a post? i’ll just keep trying. am i doing something wrong?

thanks.

Hmmmm You should be able to access them just by clicking on the link? Anyone else having any problems? The link is http://www.yesalbum.com/v001/sd101483 If you can’t get in by just directly clicking, let me know and I can attempt to post some of the comparison pictures in a thread. I have way too many pics on the page to try and post them all on the board! I hope it works for you!! Good Luck!

Sav…thanks for all of your updates. i’m going through the same thing. i’ve been having electro since october '04 and like you, have up and down days/weeks. I love how u describe this too, cause I thought I was alone in that. Even though I’m having great progress, I get frustrated with going, sometimes I even get uncomfortable, but then when I get to the office, the lady I see is so positive and really a great person she brings me out of my rut. It’s great hearing that you are beautiful when you’re feeling your ugliest (especially from a virtual stranger). I’ve been struggling a lot this past couple weeks with how long it’s going to take and the whole money situation. I’m currently in a fight w/ my insurance co. with reimbursing me for my appts. (see the PCOS section of the site) and of course I’m getting the run around. I’m not nearly ready to give up…it just gets so frustrating. Maybe it’s the nice weather and how everyone is wearing a little less and it’s a little harder to cover this problem up. So basically I’m posting to say thanks for your updates and to tell u good luck with further appts.

Whoa looking around it’s so quiet in here…kinda scary!

Just wanted to take a quick minute and say thanks to Babyblue for reading the posts and taking the time to reply. I’m glad that it’s helping others keep plugging along. I know it really helps me. I like to come on here and whine because you all know how I feel. Others close to me don’t have a clue!

I have an appointment today (in about 2 hours actually!) and I can’t wait. It’s been 2 weeks since we’ve touched the right side and it’s certainly starting to look pretty bad (actually, FEELS worse). We cleared the entire left side last week and that still doesn’t feel too awful. I’m hoping fingers crossed that we might be able to clear both sides today in 2 hours? Seems to be a lot less hair. The kind of cool thing is that it seems to be growing in nice straight rows now on the right side. That will make the job faster and easier for my electrologist. At least that’s how it APPEARS to me!

Anyhoo, done rambling for now. Will update after appointment and have new pics, as always (tho I didn’t have time to take before photos this morning when I left…sorry! )

Good luck all,
Savannah

I just also wanted to thank Sav for the updates. I should really be more organised and start my own thread.

I’ve been going to electrolysis for the past 3 months and I’m seeing a great improvement. But because of a change in schedule at university I might have to change practitioners (at the lady I’m seeing does not work weekends) so I’m on the hunt again.

The only problem I have is that I have lots of dark hairs on my face but also so many light ones too. At the moment I am only concentrating on the darker ones because of money constraints and am beginning to feel more and more aware of the lighter hairs.

But thanks again for the updates as every time I read about your experience it reminds me that I’m not alone in all my feelings.

xx

Hey all!

Had a 2 hr appointment yesterday. It went pretty good. It’s been 2 weeks since we’ve worked on the right side at all and we achieved a total clearance. This was the best clearance to date on the right side. Meaning I can sometimes feel little hairs that were missed but this time, like left side last time, it was perfectly smooth. I am noticing that we are clearing a little more each time which is great. We cleared side burn area all the way to under the chin and the chin itself. All in 2 hrs and it’s 2 full weeks of growth there! We are going on 2 weeks without touching the left side and there really isn’t that much growth this time. The most seems to be right under the chin (the fatty area) and that area hasn’t had as much treatment as the rest. I go back next monday again for 2 hours. I am getting kind of frustrated because money is starting to run out but I REALLY want to keep plugging along. I’m giving it one more month of the 2 hr weekly sessions because I really think I’ll see a nice improvment by then. After that I’m going to have to cut back to save some money. Not to mention my car just decided to get sick ALWAYS SOMETHING!!! Here’s hoping I can go on for one more month at this pace!

Good luck all,
Savannah

Sorry there aren’t pictures this time My batteries are dead in my camera and I haven’t gotten new ones. I’m a failure!

Thanks, Bianca for your reply. Good luck with your electro and please keep us updated!

way to go, sav!!! that’s some real progress there!

Hey Susie, Thanks! When I take a step back and really look at it, I can see how far I’ve come. Sometimes tho it feels like I’m not getting ANYWHERE. Especially when there’s that new growth creeping in within a few days .

Just wanted to hop on here and let everyone know that I have updated my pics. Wait till ya see the right side! http://www.yesalbum.com/v001/sd101483

Thanks and good luck to all!!!

Sav,

You are doing an awesome thing here with all your consistent documenting. I’m very, very happy for you and a little amazed. Do you realize you’re like that rare dinosaur that really pique’s our interest week after week? You are truly doing this the right way and will see the end faster than most who start electrolysis. I know this has been a struggle for you in many ways, but your dogged perserverance will pay off for you in the end. You have really paid forward for many out there who are also struggling with unwanted hair, who need this kind of documentation to help them understand just what a committment this hair removal stuff presents.

Hugs and thanks to you once again. You are truly the BEST.

Dee

Oh, I started this reply for another reason and forgot to say it.

I am going to really get serious and do my camera homework. Do you believe I am an electrologist without a camera? For months I’ve been thinking about purchasing a great megapixel camera so I can start documenting my willing clients before, middle and after’s. Thanks to you, I think the spirit has finally moved me to do this.

Hi all! It’s update time. First tho I would like to thank Dee for the nice reply! The dinosaur analogy made me giggle a bit! I’m glad you’re looking in to getting a camera…I think it’s a really important part of treatment and hopefully people will be willing to let you document. Honestly if I didn’t have my pictures I wouldn’t see much progress. As I always say, it FEELS like the same amount of hair, but when I look at the pics, I can SEE it’s a lot less!

Now for the update. I had a 2 hr appointment yesterday. It didn’t go as well as I had hoped. We didn’t get a chance to touch the left side which hasn’t had any treatment for 2 weeks so it’s getting pretty bad and starting to depress me again. We were able to clear under my chin (the fatty party) and most of my chin except for a small part on the left side. This area took the entire 2 hours but we have only cleared that out once previously so there was a lot of growth. My chin did really well until now. After it was totally cleared it stayed that way for about 6 weeks and now it’s back with a vengence. Under the chin is probably the worst area for me. It hurts the most. The chin is also quite painful now where it really didn’t hurt the first time around.

This is really starting to get to me. I’ve noticed everytime I go for an appointment I get very grumpy. It makes me realize how bad the problem is (because I have to let the hair grow) and I am very angry that I even have to do this. I shouldn’t have to spend all this money and use up all this time and go thru all of this to have nice smooth skin, that’s how I should be normally. It’s VERY frustrating. I’m really glad I’m starting to see immense progress or I’d probably quit. sigh Keep yer head up and keep on truckin’ I suppose.

I have updated the pictures. They are lookin good! Please take a looksee! http://www.yesalbum.com/v001/sd101483

Good luck all,
Savannah

My only concern is that you feel some of the hairs being removed after treatment and that hurts the most. When a hair follicle is properly treated the hair should slip out without any feeling by you. Otherwise it was a tweezed hair. There is no professional excuse for this!!!

Everthing else sounds Ok, but may I suggest that you read very carefully the site: ElectrolysisInformation.com as you continue your treatments.

Thanks, Fino. Trust me, I’ve read that site many times trying to get myself prepared. I’m glad you brought this up. I have not felt that tweezing sensation since my first clearance. I keep forgetting to mention this. Now I just feel a bit of the current and every now and then a tug on the hair but for the most part I don’t notice them coming out at all. I don’t really know why it’s different now but the first electrologist I saw told me that the ones in the resting phase were the ones I was feeling coming out and once they were in growing phase that would be different? In any case, thanks for your reply!

Savannah

Hi all! Update time!!!

Today I had a 2 hour treatment and we completely cleared the entire left side of my face including side burn, chin, neck, strays on cheeks. It has been 3 weeks since that side has been touched. HUGE improvement. After 2 weeks the right side is finally starting to have noticeable growth. My electrologist said today that I’m about half way done…she said there’s at least 1/2 of what there used to be. That’s AWESOME. As I always say it still FEELS the same but you really can SEE a differance.

Anyway, that’s all for now. Will post pics later!

Sav,
I’m just curious: since you’re having so much of your face worked on, are you having any hyperpigmentation?
–susie
p.s. also, i hope your razor is spending more and more days gathering dust between uses lately.

Hi Susie, so far I haven’t had much of a problem. Some times after treatment I’ll have a tiny bit that will last 3-6 days but it does fade quickly. I’m hoping that as I have less and less hair that would become less and less also, even tho it isn’t a problem. Regarding the razer, I’m still shaving every day but this is because I’m compulsive! I think I could technically go every other day at this point as the hair grows slower but I’m very paranoid after having such a mass of hair and shaving at least once, sometimes twice, per day for 6+ years. Still worried about “the shadow” even tho it really isn’t there, and still worried about people noticing. I’m really hoping in the coming weeks it’ll start to be less and less and less.

Thanks for the reply,
Savannah

“Before” pics updated at http://www.yesalbum.com/v001/sd101483 Sorry, for some reason they went out of order rolling eyes I’ll add the “after” pics tomorrow so check back!

Added the after pics now and also did a comparison of my before and after treatment pics, please check it out. I think it’s perdy darn awesome!!

Thanks for reading everyone, good luck!
Savannah

Hello, Sav!

do you have any ingrown hairs since you started the treatment?

Hi there. I’ve had a few, literally maybe 2, but I never really had problem with that to begin with. When I DO have an ingrown, my electro is still able to get them out, she has different/special tweezers/nippers for that.
