Need some guidance please

I’ve started to do some research as I am looking to have laser hair removal in the next couple of months. I’ve read the FAQ and have researched some places, but I want to be sure I do this right as I don’t have the $$ to have it done wrong. (…but really who does?!)

I am somewhere between a skin type III/IV - I’m a good ol’ mix of armenian, italian, german, and ukranian. I tan very easily, rarely burn, but in the winter (without a tan) I’m very pale with slight olive undertones. I want to get a bikini/partial brazilian. I’ve been sugaring/waxing for about 7+ years. Shaving was never a good option, bc my hair is visible under the skin the day after so I’d have to shave again leading to irritation/ingrowns. I’ve had pretty good results with sugaring, but I moved a year ago and couldn’t find anyone that did it. Since waxing I almost feel like the hair is growing back even faster, or maybe it’s just bothering me more!! I have to go every 4 weeks, but at 2 weeks there are already very visible hairs. I’ve been told my hair is ‘stubborn’ so I’d consider it coarse, though parts of ‘that’ area are fine.

My immediate thought was to go with a Nd:YAG. I’ve found several places in my area that use both the GentleYAG or the Coolglide. Any thoughts on one vs the other? Am I right in thinking this is the best laser for me…or would a Diode be better?

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

Welcome to the forum and glad you’re doing your research the right way. Can you also add your location to your profile?

You may be light enough for an alex laser like GentleLASE. I would have a test spot with it and see if you can use high enough settings on it. If not, I would prefer GentleYAG over Coolglide just due to larger spot size, but in the end, expertise of the clinic and laser operator should win between those two.

Thanks for the input.

What are your thoughts on a Diode such as Lightsheer?

It requires more experience from the tech, so it would be ok if they’re willing to use high settings and have been using the machine for a long time, so they know how to operate it. expertise should be priority.
