old posts

hey everyone

i have read some old posts of RJC2001 and davidkafrick .

according to david he was treated with the harmony ipl system on fine hairs and had very good results better then the lightsheer or GentleLase altough he didn’t post any of the settings that were used on him , and according to RJC2001 he had better results with the lightsheer with comprassion and high fluence for fine hairs…

according to the specifications of the lightsheer as i remember, as you go up with the fluence you also go up with the pulse width automatic, which doesnt sound right to me that it can destroy fine hairs with high pulse width…

but with an IPL which has a wavelength smaller then 755nm and by that have better melanin absorption and probebly it have adjautable pulse width , it might do the work on fine hairs , altough smaller wavelength means shallow absorption of the energy in the skin…

what you think about that? did anyone else had good results with IPL and fine hairs like davidkafrick?

Harmony is one of the better IPLs. I wouldn’t apply the fact that he got his results from one treatment on Harmony to all IPLs in general. RJC2001 tried several machines, but not alexandrites and not GentleLASE. So there is no basis for comparison of LightSheer diode to an alex here. Either way, alex’s wavelength is shorter than diode (755nm vs 810nm). Keep in mind that he had a very good laser operator, which is most important when choosing between two good machines because settings matter a lot as well as technique.

Also, what you’re trying to judge is almost impossible to judge in this way. You are ignoring spot size and pulse, as well as body area treated, which all play a very important role in how deep the laser penetrates and how settings need to be set. There is no black and white answer. The bottom line is that most lasers won’t work WELL on fine hair. You can try to experiment, with Harmony or GentleLASE at various settings, but the results will vary depending on settings, type of hair and the area treated etc.
