Josefa, James and Dee, the prototypes for the 4 and 5 Kellys were completed today. After packing and sterilization they should head your way the beginning of the week. They are made on the short length with 3 reduced tip lengths each to compare. I’m sending you a dozen of each tip length.
Also you will get the Kelly 3’s with .022" tips and we shall see if you agree that is the best “Kelly” length for them.
I’ve had feedback telling me the various locations these larger shallow hairs provide cause the mediums and longs to “get in the way” as it were. These test “Kellys” are made on the short length for that reason. We’ve never offered the 5’s and 6’s in short before. Looks like that may change…
The test packs of 4’s and 5’s left for their testers yesterday. Kelly and James, you will be getting some of Josefa’s 6 shorts with .045" long exposed tips. I’ll be very interested in your opinon of the usefulness of this size.
( I suspect Josefa is going after a speed record )
Regarding a policy to use the thickest possible probe a 5 or 6 with a short tip should be necessary even when most of the hairs are in the anagen, shouldn’t it?
The .006 short arrived a couple of hours ago, and Josefa has just used it on my arm!
She is working on another client right now, but she will post a comment later.
She already loves how the .006 short is working, and she doesn’t understand why it hasn’t been requested more frequently.
It’s 11pm and I just finished a man’s back using the a 5 short .045 probe. We went four hours at his request. Once I started, he noticed a difference in sensation. I usually use the IBP 5 Long .0055 probe, which he tolerates fine, but the 5 short probe with the .045 diameter was even better, so he requested that we go an hour and 15 minutes more. We accomplished 4,167 insertions and most hairs were one shot and out. (I will share my levels on the AEA forum for the electrologists reading this.)
Prior to that, I used a 5 short .045 on a facial case for two hours. Same feedback and she is usually very sensitive. I was able to use Synchro this time as opposed to MultiPlex and I believe the probe had something to do with this, not to mention the modality offerings on the Apilus Platinum. I had to decrease my energy levels by 16% with this smaller probe. So far so very good, Mike!
We have only been able to work for several hours with 006 short (Kelly tip 045), and really could not be better. In my opinion, the reduction in the overall length of this probe gives the same force as one-piece probe. The reduction in the length of the exposed tip makes it ideal for thick hairs in telogen. To answer your question, no, I would not change anything. The number 006 is indicated for deep follicles, even if they are in the telogen phase, you still need to cover a large area.
