I started my laser hair removal treatment on my legs about 3 months ago. Since my first treatment, my legs have been covered in coarse, deeply rooted stubble. I’ve been exfoliating my legs nonstop with everything from soap to exfoliating scrubs, using everything from loofahs to a pumice stone to try and work the spots out. Since my second treatment failed to ‘burn my pepper spots off’, I’m becoming very concerned. Is there some kind of like professional treatment I can have done to help loosen my unsightly stubble? My skin looks really terrible.
What machine are you being treated with? What settings? Did settings differ from one treatment to the second? What does your clinic say?
Actually, having these pepper spots for a long while is very good. Believe me - the longer you have them the better the results will be. I dont know the science behind it but it works. Come back and tell us!

The machine was called gentlelase, I’m not quite sure what settings the technicians used. I remember him saying he would start out with a lower setting (which struck me as odd because my hair is so extremely coarse). When I asked him about it, he just told me to exfoloate, but I’ve been rubbing my skin raw =(
Pea- is that really true? lol, it makes me feel a little better =), but i’m just scared that it will be years before the spots come out, theyre so deep and theres absolutely no sign of them even budging
Can you please ask them what joules and spot size they’re using? When did you have your last/second treatment? They may not have burned off if the settings were low.
Also, do you shave your legs or do you give 3 weeks after the treatment for the hairs to fall out?
I will next time I go, I haven’t been shaving. My last treatment was 7/10
i’ve just been using a pair of exfoliating gloves my technician gave me for exfoliating. are pumice stones and loofah’s more effective?
Can you call them and ask what settings were used? That way you can come in asking to adjust if necessary instead of having another treatment at what could be low settings.
i suppose i’ll try that. see if they burn out next treatment
whats an exfoliating glove?
its basically a pair of gloves you wear, it has a roughish texture like pumice stones im guessing. i just wash normally with them when i soap my skin it is supposed to exfoliate.
You should let the skin soak in warm water for 10-15 mins first. Also, using an exfoliating scrub with it may help. Don’t scrub too hard - there shouldn’t be any damage to the skin.
I brought a course of LHR which comprised of 6 treatments each spaced 6 weeks apart, however my last and final treatment was afer 12 weeks and it seemed to hurt more than usual… I think it was because the hair grew back thicker and I allowed it to grow slightly longer prior to the treatment… weirdly after my last treatment I developed pepperspots like ingrown hairs… which look weird but after 3 weeks are almost gone.
What area are you treating? Is your hair coarse and dark to begin with? Did they increase the settings (hurts more)?
How have your results been? Do you know what machine was used?
Not sure what you mean by “3 weeks” since it takes 3 weeks for the treated hair to shed, which is what should have been happening after every treatment and why treating 6 weeks apart is too early to treat (there shouldn’t be enough growing in to treat at 6 weeks).
my sessions are spaced out 6 weeks apart also. thats bad?
Yes, way too short for legs. Legs need 10-12 weeks apart minimum, and up to 14 weeks or so after the initial couple of treatments. The hair cycles on the legs are long.
does this explain why my leg hairs arent shedding because the hair cycles are alot longer? its been 5 weeks now and i dont think there hair has shed, its like stubble?..
Shedding takes 3 weeks. Pepperspots often take up to 2 months to shed.
