GentleLASE I read is one of the most effective lasers used in hair removal…how permanent is it really??? I have fine light brown hairs on my face…the hair root leaves a shadow…because my skin is light…would I benefit from the GentleLASE??
there are several questions in your post. here’s the short answer: laser is permanent, but it’s not an option for you. you can only remove the hair you’re talking about with electrolysis if you want permanent removal. your hair is too light and fine for laser, especially since it’s on your face. check out the electrolysis forum for help in finding a good electrologist near you.
here’s the short answer: laser is permanent
…Hmmm. Has that ever been proven? From everything I see, laser has not been established as permanent. Permanent reduction maybe, but rotary epilators, tweezer plucking, and waxing will permanently decrease hair to a certain extent as well. Electrolysis is permanent.
i just feel like theres too much area to cover on my face to rule out laser…also i don’t want to leave my face scarred which can often happen with electrolosis. No the hair on my face isn’t like the hair on my legs, but because i’ve shaven, waxed, threaded, but it is noticeable when magnified…are you sure i couldn’t or wouldn’t benefit from laser???
Scarring is not the usual outcome with electrolysis, Aime. Where did you come up with that one?
It sounds like you are dead set on lasering your face, so give it a try and see where you end up.
My advice would be not to laser. If you read others’ experiences here with similar situations, it doesn’t work. I don’t know what to tell you except that desperation would not be a good reason to spend a bunch of time and money when something most likely will not work. I guess everyone is different.
I agree with Dee. Who told you that electrolysis causes scarring? I have done both laser and electrolysis and have absolutely no scarring with either. The OPERATOR causes scarring, with any method, not the method itself.
Mantaray, this is a futile discussion. Electrolysis hasn’t been proven either in the sense that you’re insinuating. Laser is just newer and works on less types of skin/hair.
…And know that in some cases laser stimulated the vellus hairs (fine, whispy) to become terminal hairs (darker, longer). Those people ended up with even a worse hair problem. You can end up with more visible hair on your face. Permanent electrolysis on the face is always the best route, and the least risk of scarring. Electrolysis has been proven for 130 years. If it wasn’t permanent, believe me, we’d know by now.
Mantaray
I agree. There are cases where your hair can be stimulated by laser to become darker, mostly on a woman’s face actually. It’s not worth the risk of time and money if you ask us.
in some cases electrolysis does scar the skin…in my case it has left needle size
that’s the electrologist’s fault. you should test 3-4 before settling on one to make sure they are knowledgeable and experienced. there are people who don’t know what they’re doing in every profession. you can’t base the entire industry and ignore that millions get treated without any side effects on one bad experience with someone who didn’t know what they were doing.
Aime,
No matter what modality you use, laser or electrolysis, you can have undesirable skin reactions that can be serious. This link relates to laser, but it expands on lagirls post above. You need to do a thoughtful search for a good practitioner no matter what you choose to do.
