I have fair skin (type 2), dark brown, coarse hair growth (lighter on upper leg but still coarse). I have been going to ALC and have had the following treatments spaced approximately 10 weeks apart:
-Full Legs: 8 treatments (7 with Aurora IPL & 1 with Sprano Diode- *soprano produced 0 shedding)
-Brazilian Bikini: 6 treatments (5 with Aurora & 1 with Soprano Diode- *soprano produced 0 shedding)
These pictures were taken exactly 2 weeks after my last laser treatment - I did not shave after the laser treatment.
Your hair pretty coarse and your skin is pretty light. Obviously, we don’t know what you started with, but I believe in previous posts you said you received about a 25% reduction. With so many treatments done on easy to treat areas considering your skin and hair type, I am almost certain you can get much better results with a good laser and proper settings (GentleLASE). At this point, if they’re treating you for free, I would ask for a treatment with Soprano and HIGH settings on it (check out a recent post by someone who did their research and figured out what good settings on this machine are after not getting results at first either at another location of this clinic).
UPDATE: Today I had my 9th treatment on full legs and 7th treatment on brazillian bikini with the Amerilight again at ALC.
They confirmed that they no longer use the Soprano laser and that they got the Amerilase instead. I decided to stick with the Amerilight again today because I don’t want to be a guinea pig on the Amerilase (I am weary of new machines as the Soprano did nothing for me) so I’ll wait and see what other people experience and then maybe switch to it.
hey guys im looking for pictures…is there a before and after pictures section on this website and if so can someone tell me where it is located? thanks
There is a picture in the pictures section of this site of my underarm after treatments. Unfortunately, I didn’t take a before picture, but the hair was basically black and very coarse.
A more important question though is what exactly are you trying to see in the pictures? I mean, it’s basically going from having hair to having no hair on an area, or a reduced amount of hair.
Jessica81 on this forum keeps a site with pictures of her treatments. you can search for her posts.
I had about a dozen treatments on my beard done by American Laser Center. Most were with the IPL (Aurora) and the last two or three with the Comet (diode laser). (I am a man, not on hormones or anything.)
The patchiness is a big problem with these lasers. And as it’s on my face, it not just annoying but disfiguring. ALC, kept telling me this was a normal side effect that would dissipate with more treatment. But it only kept getting worse!
My last treatment was about 16 months ago. I’ve had some regrowth so the patchiness is slightly less apparent than when I first stopped. My only advice is stop now and ask for your money back.
The patchy result on the male beard is common and I have had it too. I have these photos from January 2007 after about 8 treatments with an Alex (hurts like HECK!). The photos are about 6 weeks after treatment at which time I would see much of the shedding areas regrow dark hair.
After another two treatments, I still have a “goatee” (as the chin is very difficult to kill off) and far fewer patches of dark hair along the jawline. I cannot say for sure if the patches can be defeated with more laser time, but I am still trying. The regrowth is certainly getting slower and several of these patches have not regrown (10 weeks after tx #10). I do not consider these to be “missed” areas, just more stubborn hair (due to growth cycle, root structure, or whatever).
Anyway, if I was trying to get reduction, I would definitely be upset as it cannot be done for me. I am now hoping for significant clearance over most of my face. It sure takes LOTSA treatments!
Perhaps the pubic and male facial hair (both being hormone driven) are similar and the LHR gets similar results. Your pubic hair DOES appear to have a potential horizontal “stripe” which could be a “missed” section during treatment. I have noted a similar patchiness on my brazilian as well (treated with a Diode laser). I am currently letting it grow out a bit so that I can better assess the amount of hair and any discernable patterns.
thanks for the pictures, tex. i have to say that that’s a pretty good reduction after only 8 treatments on this area. from everything i’ve read, it sounds like you might need 4-5 more treatments before you should switch to electrolysis. the skin where you have no hair now looks really good too
sand098223, after proper treatments, the skin looks the same. mine actually looks great without all the ingrowns and irritation from shaving
