Rachelle's Treatment Odyssey

Rachelle,I also found that the chestbone was the most painful and I was glad when it was over;because I had a lot of chest hair.It wasn’t bad in the nipple area;but only down the center at the bony part.

thank you barrester for that. i am not so much worried about the pain part but the blemishes i have. they seem to take wayyyyyyyyyyy longer to clear than my chin and side burns. and i got these small raised white bumbs. i think i read before on hairtell that they are permanant??? . even if they are, they dont show that much. i just want the red marks, red bumbs to go. they are the ones that show a lot.

ANYWAY here’s my update. Today i had another 15min treatment on my chin, side burns and chest bone.

i was doing setting 24 with thermolysis. before i went in, the chin had some regrowth. most of the hairs were fine, but there were still some ANNOYING thick black hairs. the side burns, (which have not had any growth for a couple of weeks) had about 5 dark hairs in total. for chest bone, the setting went down because it hurts more in that area and by experience going to high in that area can damage the skin. there wasnt that much hair, but we really just focused on the fine hairs.

ok i have a question. i got about two more weeks before i leave on my TWO month vacation to a place that has NO electrolysis. i am going next saturday for another treatment and then maybe thursday or something. is that good enough? how should i best manage these two weeks before i leave on my vacation to get the hair growth under control? should i crank up the heat? should i ask the electrologist to leave the probe in for longer? have more appointments in these two weeks?

how about in terms of things i can do at home? is there some sort of ointment/cream/food i can do to take care of the skin/hair. probably not much as i am already doing everything now.

i also talked to my electrologist about what ican do on my vacation and she suggested best thing i can do is bleach. and i agree. but i am worried that the dark hairs will be too noticeable. Remember how i used to complain that if i went more than a week without electrolosis it looks as if i am back at square one. its been about 5 months now i have been doing electrolysis with high intensity heat (thats what my electrologist says). oh god, i hope the hair growth coming back does not ruin my vacation. i am thinking of trimming with sissors the hair and bleaching the rest of my face (i have had good experience with bleach).

with bleaching. i am worried if this will irritate the areas that i worked on my electrolysis. how soon after an electrolysis treatment can i bleach my face? remember its a chemical that lightens hair. not sure if it goes inside pores or not.

anyway, sorry for the long post. any help would really help me.

hey everyone! i had my last appointment today before my two month vacation. same as before but this time, we didnt really do any work on my side burns. there are no hairs there!!!

the chin, same as usual, but less hair. my electrologist is EXTREMELY impressed by my pain tolerance. I am at 24 and she says she has clients who cant tolerate setting 15. i can actually go higher than 24, but 24 is working just fine with me and i dont want too much heat that it makes the skin really hot , red and swollen.

anyway, we did a little more chest than usual. since we havnt been working on it alot (i.e. hair grows slower)… this time some showed so we did them and thats about it. i am going to keep on eye on the growth this week and MAYBE i’ll go in for another treatment. but the hairs take longer to grow and i doubt i’ll go for another treatment before my flight this friday.

ok, now. take care everyone, have a superb summer! keep electrolysis going and make sure you are doing it right. if you start now, you’ll have a clearer face before the start of the new school year.

tata for now!
love,
rachelle

Rachelle, thank you so much for your updates. It certainly helped me get started and since we’re so close on timing it has helped keep me going when it really really sucks!! Have a GREAT time on your vacation and hopefully pop in now and then if you can. I wish you the best, esp with the hair growth situation!

Savannah

hey all, just wanted to update everyone and ask a question.

i have been having severe itching in my chin area where i have had electrolysis. the itching is totallyyyyyyyyyyyy bothering me and my whole chin is hot and red. i wash it more now, i apply aleo vera to help with the itching and now i have polysporin. its been like this at least two days and my last appointment was saturday. a few hairs popped out and i will see if i can get in an appointment this thursday before my flight.

so group! what do i do about this itching and what does it mean?!! first time it happened to me and it itches alot! really weird sensation.

-rachelle

Get a cortisone for the itching. Aloe Cortisone is better than petroleum products. It most likely means it is summer and you are sweating into your treated area. You know, that salt into the wound thing?

hey everyone!!! oh my god have i got alot to say. first of all, i dont have much internet access and those who sent me private messages. for some reason i do not have access to reply to them. so i’ll reply here.

first of all. the hair growth!!

my chest. a few hairs popped up. but nothing that should worry me in terms of being alot and noticeable. only if you come close you can see the dark ones.

the chin. all hell broke loose. clipping doesnt work and bleaching doesnt work either. i shave my chin now and its good, but still makes me feel like a man and i dont like it. i do it every other day and if i dont, it really is noticeable. the left side of my face, below jawline. nothing has come back. THANK GOD!. the right side of my jaw line is a horror story. honest to god, i did not realize i had that much randam thick hairs in the area. they bother me so much, because they are scattered and if i watn to shave i have to shave the whole right side and i dont want that cause i got fine hairs that i have bleaches and dont show at all. i am trying to deal with them.

my side burns, there are growth and i just shave them.

over all, this experience has been discouraging as my chin looks horrible. i feel soooooooooooooooooo tempted to pluck and my cousin is telling me to do it but i keep remembering that when i come back from my vacation that i will continue my treatments. all i know is i am giong to get some major “i told you so” lecture from my mom.

i started electrolysis in december of 2004 and stopped it about 3 weeks ago due to my vacation overseas. the growth of my chin is as if i never did electrolysis. well probably less hair there, but its enough to make me feel horrible about revealing the area or looking up at the sky if someone is talking to me. i dont mind the side burns nor the chest. i can hide the chest with shirts (clothes duh!) and the side burns i shave.

anyways, when i come back i plan on lasering my armpits and continueing electrolysis on my chin and face. i really do hope there is a light at the end of the tunnel. i felt i was diong really good before my vacation but now i feel like i might have spent alot of money for very minimal results.

for that private message that was sent to me:
blend is slower than thermolysis but is still very effective. someone using blend will sense a problem faster than thermolysis and adjust. thermolysis is extremely fast and is great for large areas that need to be cleared fast. some use blend first on thick hard black hairs and then switch to thermolysis. the most important thing is not so much what machine, but who is doing the work. that is crucial. so go with the person with the most experience and best hand work. hope that helps.

bye for now everyone. and see you guys soon

rachel

I know it is hard right now, but keep your chin up. (pun intended) it takes 9 months to really get to where all the hairs show up once.

If you looked at a before shot, I am sure you would see a dramatic difference, but you probably don’t have one. You just wait till your mom sees what you look like in February of this next year. That will be when the hair you have lost forever will be most evident.

Stay the course!
