This will not help you. It is not powerful enough.
DO a search here on hairtell and hairfacts for more information, as this has been discussed before.
This site would not exist if this little gadget permanently removed hair.
None of these home hair “laser” hair removal devices work at this time. I really have not even read of one person claiming that they in fact work on any hair removal message board either. And I’ve scoured alot of stuff.
thanks folks - I knew I was wishful thinking !!! looks like I will have to take a trip to the laser clinic !!! I have tried IPL in the form of ‘epilight’ - 2 years ago at a beauty parlour - but the practitioner was a charlatan - completely in it for the money - she was very un professional in her approach she wanted me to pay for 12 sessions in one go (£120UK per session) and come in every 3 weeks !!! I only ended up having 2 sessions with her as i turned up to 2 appointments and her shop was closed !!! (luckily I chose to pay for each session separately !!!) and ended up with one small patch of about an inch by half inch with no dark hairs on it !!! Besides the epilight machine she used seemed to either burn my face off or not hurt at all from one ‘zap’ to the next !!! (probably misuse of an otherwise good machine)
So I lost faith in hair removal for a while - however a few months ago I had a good patch test with a different laser clinic using a form of laser that I cannot recall at this time - the staff and laser operator at this place were very professional and ‘diagnosed’ I would need between 6 and ten sessions (starting at 6 week intervals and ending on 12 week intervals) at £140UK per session - they also offered bulk payment - but only for 3 sessions at a time with discount of £60 over 3 sessions !!! The level of care and professionalism here (as well as the patch test results) made me realise that a specialist laser clinic was the way forward - although at the time I couldn’t afford it !!!
So it looks like I will be biting the bullet and getting my first appointment booked and working that bit harder to afford the sessions !!!
I will let you all know how things go !!!
thanks for listening to my ramblings

does anyone know anything about the LB500s by unimed that’s on ebay?
the same as above applies to this machine shawn. we wouldn’t be here paying for professional treatments if these things worked.
Nina, can you verify what laser they used? and yes, we’d love to hear your story. what areas are you getting done?
Hi Nina,
I am also based in the UK and was wondering if you could state which clinic you are currently visiting. I would be greatful of any information you have to offer. It’s so difficult choosing the right clinic and I am really hesitant!!
Many thanks
hello again - the clinic I am going to use is the “Brighton Laser Clinic” ( brightonlaserclinic.co.uk and [email protected]) the laser they use is a diode called “lightsheer”
I believe I have type 2 skin - with mainly blonde hair all over - apart from on my face and a little on my chest
I am transgendered (no nastiness or jokes please ! ) - so I am having all my facial hair removed (beard and moustache) I have mixed hair colour on my face - about 25% blonde and 75% a mixture of browns/dark browns/reds
thanks again
Nina
I would start looking for a professional electrologist. Your hair color is a problem. LASER cannot affect light colored hair (red, clear, white, blond).
I find it strange that people say: ‘You can get a lot of professional treatments for that kind of money’. Obviously, but the whole point is that some people are not willing to go to a professional laser specialist and only want a home device that helps them.
Unfortunately there are no such devices available at the moment. And my guess is that there won’t be for quite some time. But going to a professional laser center is out of the question. And I think I’m not the only one.
I am fully aware I cannot do anything about the blonde hairs - however in my own experience - both the 2 ipl sessions I had over 2 years ago - and the patch test I had a few months ago with laser (lightsheer diode) actually work to kill all other colours in my facial hair other than the blonde (almost colourless) ones - leaving very little to be removed by electrolysis - I still have one large patch of 1 inch by half inch of only lightest blonde hairs and a few patchy areas from the ipl - and I can also still see the few areas from my laser patch test on my chin where I have 4 or 5 - 3 mm or 1/8 inch circles - where again there are only the lightest blonde hairs growing through !!!
As for the place I had my ipl (http://www.beauty2000.co.uk/) - I really believe if the practitioner was in less of a rush, less desperate to get me to pay for all sessions up front - and more professional - I would have continued with her - and have only the lightest blonde hairs left on my face , chin etc !!!
I have a university close by who offer training in all areas of hair and beauty - and they also have their own salon where they offer various treatments including electrolysis - the salon is obviously a training salon - but they offer electrolysis using “sterex” for £4.50UK for up to 30 minutes treatment - their site is here (http://www.southend.ac.uk/beautysalon) and the price list is here (http://www.southend.ac.uk/beautysalon/price-list.pdf) - I know the students aren’t going to be highly practiced - but they are not allowed to work in the salon until they have finished training - and so they can get work experience before getting a real job in their chosen field
Is it wise to use somewhere like this considering that although they are qualified - they haven’t got much experience ?
thanks again
Nina
When people usually don’t want to go to a professional, there are various reasons. One of the top ones I think is that they think it’s more expensive than it actually is, that is if you look around for a good place. There are many posts here also asking about “home” machines that cost up to $5k. Depending on the area treated, this could be a pretty large sum compared to professional treatments. I guess my main point here is that this is said to help people understand that even $300 is a lot of money to spend on something that doesn’t work. It would be a much wiser investment to get even one laser or several electrolysis treatments for that money instead. That way, at least some hair can be permanently removed for the money.
Nina, I would say everything is relative. You kind of have to try it and see if you can get someone who is sort of competent. Maybe you can and you can stick with them for most of your treatments. Going to anyone without a recommendation etc is a risk at first, and it’s more so if someone is not experienced at all, but you just never know. It could be someone very good who is just starting out.
LightSheer should be fine on your face with someone who knows what they’re doing to avoid patchiness.
Hi Nina,
Thank you so much for replying Unfortunately, Brighton is out of my way (I am London based), but I have to say it is a beautiful place and people thought I was an Italian tourist!! The clinic I am booking my consultation with use both a diode and Yag, but I have a feeling that I will be using the Yag!
As for being transgendered, I have no negative opinions what so ever. Having your face lasered must be rather painful. I am terrified when it comes to pain!
I hope you treatment goes well.
Thanks,
I can’t speak for others, but that is not the reason for me. Going to a professional laser centre is just out of the question, because it’s simply too embarassing. I prefer to take care of things in privacy.
That’s another reason. My personal opinion is that something like this shouldn’t stop you from professional treatments. I’ll tell you why. The places that specializes in just hair removal see all kinds of cases every single day. There is pretty much nothing they haven’t seen before. Besides that, in most states you have to be an RN, nurse, MD etc to do this. What that means is that they have seen everything, nakedness and hairness in all forms. It’d be hard to surprise them. The thing is that people with hair situations usually think they’re alone in what they’re experiencing when in reality there are many people in the same situation who cover it up and hide it just like you do. You should treat a professional clinic as a doctor’s office as you would for any other medical issue you would get treated for. If this is really something that bothered me that much, and professional laser hair removal treatments can be my way out, I personally I would do anything to get rid of that issue (and going to a doctor’s office or a clinic where they see multiple hair issues daily would actually feel more comfortable for me). I would urge you to think about this a bit more. This can really be a life-changing experience. This has been my experience and I got pretty private areas done with both laser and electrolysis. There are many people removing all types of hair from all places, including transgendered people from private areas. So all experienced hair removal specialists have really seen everything.
Well, I don’t live in the US, so the situation is not quite the same for me.
I have thought it through, as you can imagine. And my opinion is still the same. Going to a professional laser centre is not an option for me. And I think I’m not the only one. I know for a fact that going to a professional center would be the most depressing experience in my life. I’d rather pass on that.
To end with a philosophical note: maybe the real problem is that we’re overfocusing on our appearances.
All I can say is that you must lead or have led an amazing life !!! Considering that would be the most depressing experience !!! Honestly it’s not bad at all - the people at these professional centre’s are very helpful , very nice and above all are completely used to any hair removal request !!! Unless of course you are having hair removed from your (objecting) siamese twin !!!
