Shaving between laser treatments...

Hi there! I’m new to the site, and have found quite a bit on good information here. I do have a question, however. I haven’t begun laser treatments. I am looking to have my back done. I went in for a consultation, and the staff member doing the consultation was saying all the right things (in terms of not misrepresenting laser treatment and pretty much adhering to what I’ve seen here). However, she did mention that you shouldn’t shave or really use any hair removal method between treatments because it will stimulate growth.

This sounds strange to me because I’ve heard that it’s a myth that shaving stimulates hair growth. Also, if true, does that mean that I couldn’t ever shave the lasered area again for fear of regrowth. I’m asking b/c I’m quite sure I won’t achieve 100% hair removal, nor do I really care. However, whatever is left, I’ll probably want to shave now and again.

What’s your experience with this?

Thanks for your help!

Brian

they are not correct. maybe there was a misunderstanding. you can shave all you want between treatments though i wouldn’t shave for 3 weeks after each treatment to allow the hair to come out of the skin and fall out. shaving causing more growth is a myth as you already know. You also have to shave before each treatment as only a shaved area should be treated to make sure the root is affected, not the part above the skin.
