Skin darkening after laser

I had some temporary skin darkening after my first electrolysis treatment some years ago. I think my facial skin is thin.

After my small yag laser session recently on skin type 4, I am seeing either skin darkening (1 sq cm or less) or maybe fine hair growing back on my forehead.

Any advice/ideas on creams or other things to reduce darkness if it really is that (I am hoping it is the hair growing back)?!

Per some google searches, skin darkening post laser treatments is usually temporary, but I don’t want to take a chance and not treat it in advance.

first, you should probably wait and see if it’s actual pigmentation or just hair growing in. also, show it to your clinic. a doctor there should be able to prescribe a lightening cream if it is in fact pigmentation.

I had my 4th laser treatment almost two weeks ago on my chin with Gentlease Alex. They went up on the level a little ea. time and said it was at the highest it goes. I don’t remember my skin type # but I have very fair skin (III?). I’ve never gottten hyperpigmentation with the other sessions. Things were normal for the 1st 4 days but then it got really red and dry(I did try and squeeze out pepper spots and that irritated the skin but it is still that way a week later). It doesn’t feel burned and its not blistered. Is this hyperpigmentation? How long do you think it will take to go away since it wasn’t there right after the laser, but 4 days later? Do I need a lightening cream? I will be starting electrolysis in another week and a half in the same area.

It sounds like you irritated the area by squeezing and might have gotten it infected. Pigmentation is just darkening of the skin - looks like darker dots sometimes etc. You should keep the area clean and dry and apply witch hazel, and wait for it to heal before you get electrolysis on the same exact area.
