Does anyone know anything about the effectiveness of Syneron elaser and elight lasers on medium brown skin and black hair (on the face)
We need to know whether you’re male or female and whether the hair is coarse or fine.
You need a Yag laser, which Syneron doesn’t make as far as I know.
Not sure what you mean by “elight”. If it’s Apogee Elite, then it’s a Yag. If it’s EpiLight, it’s an IPL and good for you.
In either case, you can only treat coarse hair with laser. Otherwise, you need electrolysis.
I’m a female and the hair is mostly coarse. I’m not really sure what elight is either actually, but when I called the clinic and asked what lasers they use, they told me Syneron E-Light and E-laser
What do you mean by “mostly coarse”? Can you describe in detail what parts of your face, how many hairs you think you have, and what percentage is coarse?
I have no idea how many hairs…there are alot.
The sideburns are heavy and coarse and around 30-40 near the chin are coarse, and some under the chin are also coarse but mixed in with fine and the cheek area is mostly fine especially as it moves away from the sideburns.
I just have never heard of either of those and can’t find anything on the internet either. Is it in anyway related to the Aurora? or have anything to do with Elos?
I would try calling again and speaking with someone who’s actually performing the treatment. It sounds like there was maybe some misunderstanding on the exact name of the machine. You can go to Syneron’s website and see names of all machines they manufacture.
You should not treat any areas on your face where the hair is fine or where the majority of the hair is fine. This can cause induced hair growth, i.e. that hair turning more coarse. Electrolysis is recommended for that reason usually for a woman’s face (so unless you have a lot of coarse hair like a man’s beard).
Have you had your hormones checked by an endocrinologist? Do you know the cause of the hair growth? If you don’t, you should figure this out because any hair removal methods can only kill the hair that’s currently there. They can’t prevent more hair from growing in that your body would be developing consistently if there is something causing the growth.
elight ,elaser, are painfull, and gel and sometimes cold air required to tolerate the pain.Is effective, perhaps more effective than alexandrite.
what are you basing this opinion on?
I acutally started today on a Lyra, which I’ve heard from many was better for my skin type, and also this lady seems to have much more experience.
Lyra is a Yag. However, it is not a very good Yag since it has a very small spot size.
Also, not sure how experienced that clinic is based on your other post where they told you to come back in 3 weeks.
Have you read our FAQs on how to find a good clinic near you? Where are you located?
I know 4 people who’ve gone to this clinic with similar skin types for laser on the face, all are happy with their results. They’ve been doing laser for about 8 years, so I’m thinking they should be pretty good. However, the lady I went to yesterday wasn’t the same on who did my consultation, but next time I’ll be going to her. Maybe this one was less experienced.
