Type-IV, Fine – Black or Dard Brown Hair [Gender - Female]
Extremely Fine Hair: Invisible on skin. Even though pigmented, invisible unless seen in sunlight within 1 feet.
Fine Hair: You cannot feel them on skin, but are visible within 1-2 feet distance. [Even after shaving, they cannot be felt when growing]
Relatively Fine Hair: Somewhat you can feel a layer on top of silky skin underneath [if never removed]. After shaving one can feel them growing on the skin, though not visible for 3 weeks.
So, I would rate these like 1, 2, 3 on the scale for fine hair. Anything over that probably would not qualify as fine for a female body [in my opinion].
Leaving aside under-arms, pubic hair, eye-brows, lower legs, I have fine hair on that scale on my body.
Provide my any feedback/opinion on what should I look for in getting test spots done using
Lighsheer Diode
Cynosure YAG
on the following areas…
Lower Legs [Not really fine - Have to shave everyday to keep the smooth look.]
Abdomen – Happy Trail [Fine Type 2], Otherwise Type-1
Back - Fine Type 2
I do not care about Type-1 Fine hair, as even I cannot see them.
I’m not sure laser would be effective on any of that…it sounds like they’re all really fine. Yag would probably not be effective at all, maybe LightSheer at high settings, above 30-35 joules, but that is likely to burn a type IV skin…I would say fine hair that can actually be treated is hair that’s definitely visible and that is stubbly after shaving…
Honestly, I am not that bothered about my lower legs – I shave them once in 3 days - and it just takes extra 5 minutes in the shower.
It is the other areas that if I have to shave – I guess my concept of feminity gets hurt!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
Anyways, I fixed an appointment - for 2 Brazilian treatments {my heart starts racing with the thought though)- just to make shaving that area less painful!! And in that I would take test patch twice on happy trail - to see if lightsheer works on those fine hair … so here my laser tech makes some money and I get to know if it is worth getting treatment on areas I am really skeptical about.

Which laser should I try for brazilian - Cynosure YAG or Lightsheer?
I would do test spots with both and see how high they can go on LightSheer without burning you. If you can do more than 30 joules on LightSheer, than you can go with it. If not, go with the Yag. If the hair is dark and coarse on that area, either laser should work well.
