Uh, just a question

Hi my name is Pete everybody and I’ve been struggling with body issues my whole life, when i was 16 and started getting really hairy it made it much worse. Im 20 now, and I’m finally getting laser done on my legs. It would be awesome to be hairless all over, but thats just not possible, but at least I can focus on my legs getting better. I play soccer and I run alot, I am very vain, and I want to show them off. I’m nervous, because its been more than 3 weeks since my first treatment and I’m not seeing very much shedding. I’m trying to only have like 4 or 5 treatments, cuz I dont want to be totally hairless. My skin is light and my hair is black. They’re using an ND yag on me, they say that in 2 more treatments theyll switch me to the lumenis light sheer. Are these lasers desirable for my skin type and hair color? Are these other lasers out there that might give me better results? Is that question even possible to answer? I got duped once by a clinic in Chapel hill, nc called aria skin and laser spa. If you want hair removal please never go there because these people are rats. To everybody out there struggling with body issues, just relax. Your all gonna be okay. Life can still be fun even if we don’t look Leonardo’s Divinci. I’m an ugly son of a bitch and i still manage to have fun. Im gonna go hit golf balls into the lake in a minute, love youselves!

your post made me chuckle pete.

light skin, dark hair. You probaby want an Alex Gentlelase, its gererally thought of as the best laser.
you should get good results on legs. Ive had two treatments on my legs, and am quite impressed so far.

I dont know where Chapel hill is… are you in the US or UK?

How light is your skin? Please read the FAQs here and guess your skin type based on the chart there. If you are truly light, an alex laser like GentleLASE would be best. However, LightSheer diode would also work well on dark coarse hair in good hands.

Can you find out what Yag they used and what settings (joules, spot size, and pulse)? Also, what does the area look like now? Do you have pepperspots and hairs are not growing but look like stubble, or is hair growing as usual.

There is no advantage really to being treated with a Yag first if you can handle a diode since diode is a more powerful laser. If your skin is light enough for a diode, they should treat with a diode to start to get you fastest results. Of course, it helps if they know how to use it to get results, as it’s not an easy laser to use. How much experience do they have?

p.s. Chapel Hill is in the US, North Carolina to be exact.

Unless you are a IV or darker, you will do better with an alexandrite or diode.

If you want to go up the road to Raleigh, there’s Melissa Smith at Elite Electrolysis and Laser Clinic. www.eliteelectrolysis.com She has a LightSheer and PolyLASE (alex/Nd:YAG combo).

Also in Raleigh is Dana Combopiano at Corlase. www.corlase.com Dana has a GentleLASE.

Effective Oct. 1, 2007, NC licensed electrologists who employ laser hair removal must also become licensed laser hair practitioners. This is great for the consumers in NC. They are the only ones in NC who must go to a board approved laser school. They must also obtain continuing education, yearly.

Hi Morrissey,
Its nice to hear that your happy with your results so far. What kind of laser are you on, is your skin and hair like mine (light skin and dark hair). Whats the deal with this lumenis laser?

I guess id probably get better results with a diode laser then. Is the lumenis a diode laser? I might switch to one of these raligh locations if I’d be better off with an gentleLASE or lightsheer. Tar Heels…YEEAAH.

I dont know what to do

Lumenis makes the LightSheer diode laser.

Have a few consultations and see who you feel comfortable with.

I agree. Check all of these out and see who seems most knowledgeable. Coherent LightSheer diode or Candela GentleLASE alexandrite laser would be best for you if you’re lighter than a type IV.
