Unresponsive to first treatment, now what?

Hi all,

I had my first laser treatment on my face on March 30th, a little more than two weeks ago. As far as I can tell, I’ve been unresponsive to the treatment, and I read I should see results within two weeks, and my laser clinician told me to expect shedding in one week. I had my chin, sideburns/cheeks, and upperlip area done. I’m white with dark brown hair. I’m quite pale–don’t really tan. I apparently am a perfect candidate for laser.

I’m quite disappointed in the results and am wondering if I should bother going back for more treatments. I don’t know what laser model was used, but I can easily find out. How likely is it that any other laser treatments will work for me if this one didn’t? If the machine’s setting is higher, might it work? Is it normal to not see results after a first treatment? I think it’s too expensive for me to have that kind of patience.

My skin was red for about an hour and half after the treatment, then normal. I certainly felt the laser on my skin and could feel the popping sensation, and so I was disppointed to get no results! Perhaps electrolysis is a better option for me.

Thanks for the help!

you didn’t provide enough information for us to give any meaningful input on your situation.

-what is your hair situation? coarse? fine? how much hair on those areas?

  • what machine and settings were used?

  • what do you see now 2 weeks post treatment? what is the hair doing?

I’ll find out what machine and settings were used tomorrow when I speak with my clinician.

I have very coarse facial hair in rather big patches on my jawline and chin. In these patches, it is quite thick. Anywhere a beard grows, I have coarse hair there. But in certain areas, especially right along the jawline, it’s especially thick. I shave my face at least once a day.

I think I was fairly clear in regards to what the hair is doing now–there has been no change. It’s still growing the way it has been. There may have been a day when I noticed a decrease in stubble only right on my chin, but only for one day. I think that was mostly wishful thinking, though.

If the hair doesn’t shed within 3 weeks, something is wrong with the machine/settings used. We’ll be able to provide more info once you can find that out.
