Hello all,

I have done some research and I have learned that the ND:yag laser is the ONLY option for my East Indian skin tone. I am 19 years old and have gotten away with simply bleaching the hairs on my upper lip. I never waxed/threaded or anything because I do NOT want to deal with the darker/coarser hair regrowth that would definetly result from those methods of hair removal. I really want to get rid of the fine black hairs on my upper lip and I think I know which doctor to go to in my city… I haven’t called for a consultation yet because I am so,so nervous about the whole procedure!!

  1. since you must shave prior to treatment, does this result in prickly man-like hair regrowth afterwards…?

  2. when the hair does regrow, does it fall out immediately, or will I have to walk around with thick, regrown hairs?

  3. what is this stuff I am hearing about “hair induced growth”??

  4. what should I expect after a year of treatment…? and how long should the results last?

  5. Will I be able to go to school the day after treatment, or will there be red bumps around my mouth?

I am feeling as though there is not much point to get laser hair removal if it isn’t even permanent and because I will have to SHAVE my upper lip… I don’t want to get electrlysis because I feel like that has some potential to scar me…

can anyone help me? or atleast make me feel better?

You need to look into electrolysis, not laser, for your skin type, ethnic background, and such small amount of hair that’s also fine. Laser is best for dark coarse hair. You don’t want the possibility of stimulating more hair to grow and become darker which can happen with laser on your skin type.
