I had the 1st laser session (whole back, shoulders, upper arms, buttocks) 5 weeks ago but had to go back for some touch-up on a 4"x4" area on my back 1 week ago. Do I need to wait 8-10 weeks from the original session or 8-10 weeks from the touch-up session?
Is it possible to wait “too long” in between laser treatemts?
those areas can wait longer. up to 16 weeks. it won’t hurt to wait longer either. you will get more bang for your buck actually. i would wait 12 weeks at least from your original treatment, but technically you shouldn’t go by such a schedule. you should go in after shedding completes and you have enough hair come in to justify a treatment.
btw, what kind of hair do you have on shoulders and upper arms? what laser is being used and at what settings? those areas are hard to treat, and can get worse at first if you don’t have dark dense growth there.
I have very pale skin, very dense, dark hair (back and buttocks), medium coarseness. Hair on shoulders is almost all white, coarse, not too dense. Hair on upper arms is dark, coarse, medium density.
It was a Lumenis 1 IPL machine but have no clue about the settings and the only question the dermatologist asked me while setting up the machine was if I burn easily (I burn normally). I do know the IPL hurt like hell on some areas so I suspect the machine had an “aggressive” setting.
Do you think I should avoid IPL on shoulders and upper arms?
Did you prepay for treatments? How many clinics did you check out before selecting this one? Are you seeing shedding? Truly, an alex laser should give you better results.
It’s hard to tell without seeing pictures. If the hair is coarse, it’s worth treating. However, not sure that IPL would do the job.
