Want to open electrolysis salon - help with info..

LAgirl

Thanks.
That is 10 years ago.
Sudan at that time was at war. Also south Sudan is complete disaster where even now (5 years after peace and now soon complete independece) is nothing except corrupt politicians and NVO in Juba, and raids on neighbor cows and women at countryside.
Those “no food” numbers is much about south. And “no clean water” is also is much from pastorals.

Outside cities in Sudan people are poor. Some is even just a pastorals. In cities is mix. In Khartoum are large segment of society of rich and middle class.

This is not developed country, it has growth only since peace agreement. It is poor country. Of course - local middle class in by US standards would be below poverty, but here are different needs and desires. But being in Africa does not mean that here is nothing and pictures of hungry people. May be there are more hungry women in West struggling with their diets?
;-D

How did you get to Egypt from Kenya/Ethiopia? Flied?
I have done some travel in 2003 too:
Latvia-Lithuania-Poland-Slovakia-Hungary-Romania-Bulgaria-Turkey-Iran-AAE-Bahrain-AAE-Iran-Turkey-Iraq Kurdistan-Iraq-Kuveit and then flied to Latvia.

And now, 2,5 months in Egypt and after than 2 years living in Sudan.

I’d probably last, oh, about 10 minutes in Sudan!

Are You gay?

;-D

But gays are not accepted nowhere in Africa except partially in Senegal, East Africa coast islands and Morocco.

But transgenders is not accepted everywhere in the world.

I will answer your “question” this way:

  1. Until Blacks had full rights in my country (and the world), I was, and am, Black.
  2. Until Women had full rights in my country (and the world), I was (and am) a woman.
  3. Until Transgendered have full rights in my country (and the world), I am transgendered.
  4. Until Lesbians and gays have full rights in my country (and the world), I am a lesbian and gay.

I am not, and never will be, a religious radical: not Christian, Muslim, Jew or any anti-human 13th century superstition. (Please don’t misunderstand this, I am NOT against religion.)

You are on the wrong side of history. It may take many more generations, but reason and kindness will eventually prevail. You are also on the wrong board if your intension was to inflict your hatred and bigotry on others. When it comes to human rights I do NOT keep my big mouth shut!

I am an advocate — I speak out! I did, during the Civil Rights period, put my life on the line! I “Marched with Martin” and, even though I’m old — I will march again!

I would be shot in your country in about 5 minutes because of my opinions. Keeping quiet in the face of repression against fellow humans? The West learned that lesson in 1936 Germany.

Without a doubt, of all the 83,606 posts listed here on hairtell as of this date, this is without exception the most powerful. I love you, Michael Bono.

I love you too, Dee

[size:17pt]Madonna Mia!!![/size]

Yes, Dee, I’m really impressed with this answer too.

(It is obvious that we all love Michael Bono)

Hear, hear!

(translation, if needed: Hear him! Hear him! or Hear, all ye good people, hear what this brilliant and eloquent speaker has to say!)

Until … I am …

Are you from poor oppressed NAMBLA (North America Man Boy Loving Association (“8 is too late”)), too? Wanna NAMBLA member as neighbor, papa? From oppressed nazis? What about oppressed drug-addicts? What about prostitutes? What about gamblers? What about poor students whom is not allowed to drink till 21? (In my country Latvia they are liberated down to 18! In my country Sudan they are liberated from drinking at all…)
Is everybody who is not allowed to do his fancies is oppressed?
What about incest? In Sweden it is legal. In their ideology they are right. Their ideology is that any adults (that means since 18th birthday midnight) can do between themselves what they want with their bodies. So father can sleep with his grown up daughter (“if she agree”).
In Germany some 7 years one normal man put advertising that he is searching somebody who will donate his body for his meal. So another normal man agreed, he did suicide and that first normal man ate him off.
Some bigots did not agree with this… but in the end liberty win and court agreed that their own choice…
But if you do not agree then this is of-course problem in your head.
In my ideology every has rights and duties. Like there is right of ownership. All creation is property of One who created it. “All rights reserved.” We are not owners of what we “own”, we are just vicegerents, just using according rules of Owner.
We dont have a right to do anything even if it directly harms only ourselves or ones who agreed to it.

And talking about your cultural misconception that religion is against reason and is bigotry etc…
Try to bring yourself over your (last 20-40 years) culture and think about two men from which one puts his penis in another men anus and put this together with:
“reason and kindness will eventually prevail”…

40 years ago this two men act would be seen not as much reasonable… But modern media propaganda has achieved that people should accept this as normal and call “dislikers” as bigots… There was a time when I had this propaganda shit in my head, too. I have degree in sociology and I know even more fancy ideas and ideologies than you…

And as for Sudan you have fancy opinions about “oppressed” people… Can you show Sudan in map? And if you can, what else you “know” except about oppression? Why do you ask bombing supporting CNN is muslim women oppressed? Should not you ask to these women?

And your great civil rights struggling movement… Well - dont be funny… How about those millions of muslims who are killed and tortured by trying to overthrow direct or indirect occupation of their lands by your government?
How about some poor people who with 60 years old kalashnikov are struggling against your paid taxes and votes which are killing and raping their wives and daughters?
Would you have a courage to stand there in your mountains or desert against drones, tanks, F-16, B-52, professionally trained rapists who are shooting on you rockets which cost more than all your village would earn in 100 years?

Do you have real courage or just talking about hippy fancies? What about now? Vietnam counts, but Vietnam 2.0 and 3.0 do not?

Do not speak about your credentials when you are just paying and voting to oppress and kill millions of poor people…

How about self-critique? How about reason? You are ready to be gay and lesbian until they are no more oppressed, but what about to be a muslim (in Arabic: one who voluntary submitted his will to his Creator)?

In Germany some 7 years one normal man put advertising that he is searching somebody who will donate his body for his meal. So another normal man agreed, he did suicide and that first normal man ate him off.
Some bigots did not agree with this… but in the end liberty win and court agreed that their own choice…

Nonsense. That guy is imprisoned because of this murder. And crazy people come up in every culture. Have a look at Ghaddfi or Sadam Hussein, just to name two of the monsters side by side with Hitler, Pol Pot or Stalin.

And we do not need to talk on cultural misconceptions: the recent radicalisation of [b]parts[/p] of the islamic world strongly reminds me to the german societey 500 years ago. Religious rigorism as the base of a society always leads to brutal violence - have a look in present societies, it is really independent on the religion - so it is not islam or any other religion, it is rigorism and fanatism. And this is something we should avoid. Regardless of culture, and it is the only way to achieve a peaceful world.

Back to topic:

You do not seem to have enough knowledge to start an electrology business. Maybe You first learn about the method and the boundary conditions of such a business. A good first source easily available is IMHO the following - it covers both the method as well as all aspects of how to set up a business (in Great Britain):

Sheila Godfrey: The Principles And Practice of Electrical Epilation. ISBN 0-7506-5226-8

Read that book first. Then we have a solid base for any further discussion. Everything else will be fruitless.

Beate

And crazy people come up in every culture.

Please, do not be bigot and do not call people with different values and ideas crazy.

This is typical western culture attitude that they look on religious muslims as christians 1618.-1648.
And then there is common saying that for muslim is 14th century, etc.

People do not know nothing about Islam but compare it with christianity and its history. They do not know what is Islam, but will call somebody “Islamic radical” despite being without knowledge that may be that individual is just a normal muslim as should be muslim. As West call “islamic radicals” every good muslim, then muslim masses who do not know much about Islam, they start to think that Usama ibn Ladin is very good muslim, too. Amazingly, western governments/media have turned ibn Ladin in hero for many ignorant muslims. But may be that is what US government wants.

BTW - many muslims point that Obama is destroying US even more than Bush. Non-stop liar Obama destroyed hopes that it is possible to change US if to power comes non-corporation outsider. But he turned to be worse then Bush. He do the same crimes as Bush, but often speaks and promises other things. Nobody likes liars and hypocrites…

As for hair removal salon I am looking for additional services which could be offered. It seems a little bit risky to open only for this service.

If You had read my posting thoroughly You might have noticed that i have a much more differentiated view on islam as a religion as You seem to do, and i am far of mixing Islam and Islamism.
Maybe You should open Your eyes before discussing.

BTW: for me this is a completly fruitless debate. I am not here to discuss political issues. The only reason why i entered was Your derogatory statements on our culture, specifically that intentionally wrong depicted case from Germany.

Back to topic: I was aware that You need to offer a broader service than hair removal. That is fully understandable to me. But it is beyond the scope of this forum: as one of the profesionals here i can only give aid to the aspects of hair removal and not on, say, medical foot care, if You indend to add something like that.

So let me repeat my advice (that of a woman, even one with a transgendered past, if Your religion allows You to accept that): You have received comeptent hints about the initial choice of the heart of the working equipment. For everything else there is good literature which covers all the universal issues of opening a business in electrology. One of these books is the one i mentioned. Go ahead and read it. You are welcome to me to discuss on a further and more solid base. Alternatively You might hire a consultant.

Perhaps this “discussion” (or parts of it) should be deleted.

We are not here to debate religion or beliefs. It should never be assumed that another person is agreeing or disagreeing with when they do not state an “opinion”. The electrologist here have tried to provide the information needed to start a practice in another country. PERIOD. Electrologists have clients from all cultures and religions - I’m sure our mutual goal has been to provide them with safe and effective treatments.

The direction in which discussion has gone makes the whole thing SUSPECT, IMHO.

I did not raised discussion about religion. I did not start singing mr. Lenon songs about oppressiveness of religion. Some electrologists do not work with “bikini line” and I mentioned that in the same way I can not offer many “beauty salon” services because clients will use results in unacceptable way for me.

I even do not continue with German person about “trans-” and “-ism”, because our discussion would not be tolerated. Anyway, thanks for her useful advice on topic.

So if somebody want to continue off-topic, then without deleting.

Also, if somebody is interested to ask: “Hi, muslim women! Are you oppressed?” then this can be asked even here:
www.forum.islammuslim.lv
This is latvian muslim forum. 80% of regular users there are new muslim women. They understand english. Those who are interested can post their questions about their oppressiveness.

Unfortunately this thread has reached a point which i cannot leave open.

Latvia is member of the EU and therefore addicted to equal rights of all people independent on gender, sex, and to freedom of religion. Latvia’s most important confession are roman-catholic (80%), russian-orthodox (4.1%). About 0.6% of the population are muslims - compare that to roughly 5% (locally even 20%) in Germany. Therefore we see the full range from a very liberal islam as often practiced in Turkey to the fundamental extreme. And we see evererything from respect toward women toward massive and violent supression, unfortunately with a tendency toward increase of the latter. Which in my eyes clearly is not inherent to the religion itself but more of a rise of fundamentalism.

So it does not tell us anything if muslim women of latvia do not feel supressed except that the regulations of the EU ensuring that freedom work.

Maybe You have a look at Afghanistan instead?

I don’t want to dilute my earlier comments. I will say, however, that many points made by AYJJ, I agree with: especially America foreign policy, which continues to be outrageous!

Furthermore, many American Christian radicals are as obnoxious as the most radical Muslims. I do not “play favorites.”

It does, however, all come down to the individual. I was not responding to AYJJ’s religion per se, I was responding to her own brutally bigoted beliefs. I couldn’t care less if you are Christian, Muslim or Jew. Your words are ugly, hurtful and disgusting.

(As a side note, I wonder why religious fanatics always get their “panties in a bunch” about sex? It seems a universal hang-up. Later on, you discover that they themselves have been doing odd things.)

Okay, over and out! NO MORE on this unfixable subject. Let’s get back to arguing about blend, multi-blend, pico-flash, computer and non-computer … you know, all the really meaningful topics!

To answer your question: I traveled by public transportation with locals from Cape Town to Addis Ababa (and up to Lalibela and back) and flew to Cairo on Yemen Airways (to save time and money on Sudan visa…it was a huge expensive hassle getting one then and it was only for 2 weeks, not enough for a large country like that).

To address your other comments, I’ll give you one thing to consider: All examples you present do harm to other people. That’s what we have laws for. Gay people or transgendered people do not inflict harm on others. In fact, it’s a pretty hard life to live and for you to suggest that someone would CHOOSE it willingly for some unknown reason is ridiculous. Would YOU CHOOSE a life where you’re hated by bigots? It’s none of your (or my) business to judge people who have nothing to do with your life. For you to compare anyone who falls into these categories to murderers and child-rapers is sad and ridiculous.

The problem with religion is that it breeds bigotry as you demonstrate.

Michael - Have you read God is not Great by Christopher Hitchens? I think you’d appreciate it. And it’s a fun read.

The human papillomavirus (HPV) has long been known as a sexually transmitted infection that, at its worst, can cause cervical cancer in women. A vaccine is now available—these days, vaccines are increasingly swiftly developed—not to cure this malady but to immunize women against it. But there are forces in the administration who oppose the adoption of this measure on the grounds that it fails to discourage premarital sex. To accept the spread of cervical cancer in the name of god is no different, morally or intellectually, from sacrificing these women on a stone altar and thanking the deity for giving us the sexual impulse and then condemning it. We do not know how many people in Africa have died or will die because of the AIDS virus, which was isolated and became treatable, in a great feat of humane scientific research, very soon after it made its lethal appearance. On the other hand, we do know that having sex with a virgin—one of the more popular local “cures”—does not in fact prevent or banish the infection. And we also know that the use of condoms can at least contribute, as a form of prophylaxis, to the limitation and containment of the virus. We are not dealing, as early missionaries might have liked to believe, with witch doctors and savages who resist the boons that the missionaries bring. We are instead dealing with the Bush administration, which, in a supposedly secular republic in the twenty-first century, refuses to share its foreign aid budget with charities and clinics that offer advice on family planning. At least two major and established religions, with millions of adherents in Africa, believe that the cure is much worse than the disease. They also harbor the belief that the AIDS plague is in some sense a verdict from heaven upon sexual deviance—in particular upon homosexuality. A single stroke of Ockham’s potent razor eviscerates this half-baked savagery: female homosexuals not only do not contract AIDS (except if they are unlucky with a transfusion or a needle), they are also much freer of all venereal infection than even heterosexuals. Yet clerical authorities persistently refuse to be honest about even the existence of the lesbian. In doing so, they further demonstrate that religion continues to pose an urgent threat to public health.

why some people have double standards ??

I mean the lady is asking you what she can offer in her salon and some of your suggestions are not allowed in her religion as she believes so, she has been fired with racist questions why Islam and why in your country bla bla bla … whereas if one of the transgendered people posted a thread that he/she wants to get rid of all the hair or something the person wont be asked about why he/she chose to be trans-gender right ? because you believe it’s non of your business to ask.

I think you misread. The suggestion was that there may not be enough customers to treat for a good amount of hours to support a business.

The entire religion aspect came out of a tangent when the OP demostrated hatred towards certain people.

Sorry Scotya. This is plain wrong.

That person got all the answers to her questions we as hair removal specialists can give her. If that person wants to add offerings in addition to electrology, this is beyound our scope and beyond our competence. How should someone who has specialized on electrology answer that?

Furthermore that person obtained responses to the insults he/she issued in some postings. From me because my culture, my nationality and my personal integrity had been attacked in several ways.
